Story time Program


The Sewickley Public Library invites your whole family to attend our yearly Chanukah Story Time Program. The program can be located on the second floor in the Children's Department Story time Room. During the event, we will read Chanukah stories, play dreidel, sing traditional Chanukah songs, and crafts. After the program, borrow Chanukah books, music, and movies to enjoy during the Chanukah holiday.

Books, Music, and Movies!

Books Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel by Amy Cartwright Join in with a sing-along story about the dreidel. Eight Winter Nights by Laura Melmed A collection of short poems associated with Chanukah's food, fun, traditions, and Festival of Lights. Hanukkah, Oh Hanukkah by Olga Ivanov The traditional Chanukah song comes alive. Herschel and the Hanukkah Goblins by Eric Kimmel Herschel outwits goblins that haunt a village to help the villagers celebrate Chanukah. In the Month of Kisley by Nina Jaffe Similar to Ebenezer Scrooge, this story is about a rich man who learns very important lessons about Chanukah. Latkes and Applesauce by Fran Manushkin A kitten and puppy help a family celebrate Chanukah during a blizzard. (More items are available that are not listed.)

Music Putumayo Presents: A Jewish Celebration by Putumayo A range of familiar to traditional music found in Jewish communities. Shine Little Candles: Chanukah Songs for Children by Rachel Buchman A mix of English, Yiddish, Ladino, and Hebrew Chanukah songs fun and singable with children.
