:ABSTRACT PRESS:TENUTA DI FESSINA:

Nakone, Sicilia IGT. Chardonnay 100%. From Segesta. This wine was created to express the history of the extraordinary land of Sicily, with its colors, landscapes and culture. Made from 100% Chardonnay manually harvested in August. It is an elegant, long living wine, with a good acidity. It doesnt have the richness typical of Sicilian Chardonnay, but it has finesse and elegance, with notes of spring flowers and hints of fresh fruit. Pairs excellently with taglierini with asparagus, yellow pepper soup, warm sea salad and clam saut. The 2010 vintage of Nakone, pure Chardonnay from Tenuta di Fessina, in the Guida I vini dItalia 2012 de LEspresso, by Ernesto Gentili and Fabio Rizzari, is considered among the Best purchases of the region Sicilia for their price/quality ratio. In the Guida, importance is given to the Migliori acquisti, the wines with the best price/quality ratio of the year, because is possible to drink well, even very well, spending not more than 15 euro. The score, in the Espresso, is calculated in twentieths. Starting from 14/20 a wine is appreciable, with quality beyond average. Wines from 15 to 16/20 are considered good, while the wines between 16,5 and 17,5 are very good. Excellence is given to wines with score between 18 and 20, with extra ordinary quality. NAKONE 2010_ 17,5/20_ Chardonnay bt. 16000 11/13. The nose is delicate and rich of floreal and citrus aromas; in the mouth it has freshness and power, with a savoury final.

Ero, Sicilia DOC. Nero dAvola 100%. From Val di Noto. The name Ero means I was in Italian and echoes the color nero (black) of the varietal Nero dAvola. The name of this wine reflects its complexity and mysteriousness. The grapes are

gathered by hand in September and fermented in stainless steel for eight to 10 days. The wine sees no contact with oak, and is aged just three months in bottle. Deep purplish red with a bouquet filled with aromas of morello cherries and blackberries. Soft on the palate, with good acidity, balanced tannins and rich and complex flavors, and a persistent finish. Pairs excellently with broccoli and Italian sausage soup and pasta with tomato sauce and ricotta cheese. Tenuta di Fessina, ERO Nero dAvola, Sicily, Italy, 2010. Morello cherry aromas and a palate of great purity lifted fruit, almost Pinot Noir in style. Lovely wine, elegant and intellectual whit a good future. Price 16.49 Huntsworth Wines. Drink 2013-2015. Alc. 13% (DECANTER.COM, 50 must-try wines under 20). Tenuta di Fessina 2010 Ero Rosso Nero dAvola Sicily ($25) 91. Medium dark ruby. This Nero dAvola displays a lovely nose of dark red plum with a hint of spicy balsamic. It reveals typical red fruit characteristics for this variety, but is a very juicy wine, packed with fresh flavor and sweet tannins (The International Wine Review. The winees of Sicily June/July 2013 _ i-winereviewed.com).

Erse, DOC Etna Rosso. Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio. From Rovittello, Castiglione di Sicilia. Erse is the name of the goddess of the dew; goddess of the call of the sunrise and the dew on the vines and grapes at dawn. Made from 80% Nerello Mascalese and 20% Nerello Cappuccio harvested in October. The wine is fermented in stainless steel for eight to 10 days, macerated for two to three days with two to three pumpovers daily. Erse is a delicate, textured red which reveals gorgeous inner perfume and a silky core of fruit in a medium-bodied style. A very elegant and feminine wine. Pair this wine with sauted meat and spinach or fish with spicy tomato sauce. TENUTA DI FESSINA Erse Etna Rosso 2010 92 points. The 2010 Etna Rosso Erse emerges from the glass with sweet red cherries, crushed flowers, spices and mint, all in a medium-bodied style that is hugely appealing. Firm yet harmonious tannins frame the vibrant finish. The Erse is that rare wine that manages to be intense yet not at all heavy. In that sense it captures many of the elements that make the wines of the Etna so compelling. The 2010 is 80% Nerello Mascalese and 20% Nerello Cappuccio, aged in stainless steel (The Wine Advocate #205, February 28, 2013) TENUTA DI FESSINA Erse Etna Rosso 2009 92 points. This blend nerello mascalese (80 percent) and nerello cappuccio from a vineyard planted in 1920. Its fermented and aged in stainless steel, though the tannins are powerful enough to create the richness oak aging might bring to the wine. The deep

raspberry flavors feel supple, their juiciness held tight by mouthwatering acidity. A refined expression of Etna, approachable now if decanted (Wine & Spirits, June 2013, Reviewed in Years Best Southern Italy) In The Essence of Etna Anthony Giglio writes about how wines from the hillside of Sicilys Mount Etna reflect the unique, volcanic terroir. SILVIA MAESTRELLI, owner of TENUTA DI FESSINA,spoke with Giglio about her relationship with the volcano: Visiting Etna helps you understand just how small Man is, she says. [Etna is] outlandish in its landscape: in the fire around Randazzo, at the foot of the frightening volcano, and the raining fire and boiling lava; and outlandish in the ability of the people of Etna to live so closely within such an apparently hostile and difficult environment, without feeling the need to dominate it. Instead, she explains, they, participate in the life of the volcano, with respect and empathy, and trust in the inexhaustible resources of this truly extraordinary environment. Included in Giglios recommendations: TENUTA DI FESSINA Erse Etna Rosso 2010. Heres a perfect example of the paradox o f Etna Rosso wines: its ruby color and bright berry and minty aromas would lead you to believe that its a simple crowd pleaser, but in the mouth it reveals complex black fruit flavors of plums and raisins, with grippy tannins, leading to a balanced, mouthwatering finish. (La Cucina Italiana, July/August 2013, by Anthony Giglio) Tenuta di Fessina _Property of Federico Curtaz, one time agronomist for Angelo Gaja, and an old friend of Marco de Grazia, who suggested he buy this property in Rovittello, which is cooler than Randazzo to the west, and thus produces a quite different, more floral and less weighty style of Etna Rosso that is refined and elegant. Importer: A Leonardo Lo Cascio Selection, Winebow, Montvale, NJ. _ Tenuta di Fessina 2011 Etna Rosso Erse Sicily ($35) 91. Medium ruby-garnet color. Pretty, subtle black fruit, mineral-tar and floral spicy aromas showcase pure Nerello Mascalese character. Elegant, and firm at once, the wine shows a solid moderately intense core of fruit. A very good base level Etna Rosso, it has good acidity and finishes clean with firm tannins. Overall, very pleasant (The International Wine Review. The winees of Sicily June/July 2013 _ i-winereviewed.com). Il Musmeci, DOC Etna Rosso. Cru of Nerello Mascalese. From Rovittello, Castiglione di Sicilia. This cru wine is dedicated to the Musmeci family, in particular Mr. Musmeci, who, for so many years, has taken care of the vineyards (I vigne di Fessina) with so much love that today the winery is able to cultivate 80 year old vines. This wine is made from a blend of 80% Nerello Mascalese and 20% Nerello Cappuccio from the oldest vines, grown on the highest hills. Il Musmeci is a concentrated dark ruby with clear and mature fruity notes, a marked minerality and incomparable vitality. It has fresh, clear and enticing floral and spice aromas, and on the palate is full of sweetness with hints of oak. Strong and austere yet integrated tannins lead to an enjoyable finish. Best served with roast lamb and semi matured cheeses.

Il Musmeci vintage 2007 is awarded Tre Bicchieri, top prize of Guide The wines of Italy Gambero Rosso 2010, and Eccellenza, highest award of L Espresso Guide 201 0 (considered to be the strictest selection of Italian top wines, with half the number of top awards given compared to the others Italian wine guides). Il Musmeci vintage 2008 is awarded Tre Bicchieri, top prize of Guide The wines of Italy Gambero Rosso 2011, and Eccellenza, highest award of L Espresso Guide 201 1 (considered to be the strictest selection of Italian top wines, with half the number of top awards given compared to the others Italian wine guides). Il Musmeci of Tenuta di Fessina, 2008 vintage, for Guida ai migliori vini dItalia, by Ian DAgata and Massimo Claudio Comparini, is one of 100 best Italian wines: On Rovittello main road, the winery consists in a old farm house surrounded by lava flows which make the soil dark, rich in texture and covered by old alberello vineyards. The owners are the same of Villa Petriolo in Tuscany, and together with the agronomist Federico Curtaz, they bought Fessina in 2007, and began to produce very interesting wines. This year we reward Il Musmeci. Quite strong and austere, with fine notes of scrubland and cherry. Nice also Erse, from younger vineyards. We will follow the continuous improving of this wine in the years. Il Musmeci vintage 2009 wins the CORONA (the crown), highest award of Guida ViniBuoni dItalia 2013, Touring Wine Guide.

TENUTA DI FESSINA Il Musmeci Etna Rosso 2009 93+ points. Sweet red cherries, flowers and mint are all woven together in the 2009 Etna Rosso Il Musmeci. The Musmeci is one of the most gracious, elegant and complete wines I taste from the Etna this year. It possesses breathtaking purity and delineation,

with phenomenal balance and no sense of excess heaviness whatsoever. The 2009 will be a fascinating wine to follow over the next decade, give or take. The Musmeci is 95% Nerello Mascalese and 5% Nerello Cappuccio that spent 15 months in cask and tonneaux (The Wine Advocate #205, February 28, 2013) These are without question the finest wines I have tasted from Tenuta di Fessina, a new estate that is moving in the right direction. Federico Curtaz, who made his name managing Angelo Gajas vineyards is the winemaker. Tenuta di Fessina is one of the most exciting emerging properties in the Etna landscape. (by Antonio Galloni, The Wine Advocate #205, February 28, 2013) TENUTA DI FESSINA Il Musmeci Etna Rosso 2008 94 points. Named for the Musmeci family, who farmed the Contrada Rovittelo Vineyard, sustaining vines that date back to 1920, this is a selection from the oldest vines at that site, 2,200 feet above sea level. Impressive for the precision of its tannins, the mouthwatering sea-air freshness of its acidity, this is a concentrated, potent wine that emphasizes elegance. The tarry scent unpacks into earthy detail, lasting on a cool zesty harmony ( Wine & Spirits, June 2013, Reviewed in Years Best Southern Italy) Tenuta di Fessina _Property of Federico Curtaz, one time agronomist for Angelo Gaja, and an old friend of Marco de Grazia, who suggested he buy this property in Rovittello, which is cooler than Randazzo to the west, and thus produces a quite different, more floral and less weighty style of Etna Rosso that is refined and elegant. Importer: A Leonardo Lo Cascio Selection, Winebow, Montvale, NJ. _Tenuta di Fessina 2010 Il Musmeci Etna Rosso Sicily ($65) 92. Medium light ruby-garnet color. Deeper brighter perfume of both sour and dark cherries (amarena and marasche in Italian),accented by delicate violet florality. Lovely fruit on the palate, medium bodied, chewy yet sweet cherry-mineral flavors. While the acidity is somewhat high, the tannins are rounder and more complete. This is a fine delicate wine with real length and deeper textured than the Erse, but also requiring 3-4 years aging to soften and integrate (The International Wine Review. The winees of Sicily June/July 2013 _ iwinereviewed.com). INTERNATIONAL TREBICCHIERI_July 2013_"Musmeci. The guardian of Etna" by Lorenzo Ruggeri. Nothing could be better than a vertical tasting of a nerello mascalese cru from old vines to convey the potential of the Etna terroir. Among the many excellent wines the volcano embraces is Etna Rosso Musmeci from Tenuta di Fessina. We are in contrada Rovittello, in the zone of Castiglione di Sicilia, on the north slope of Etna. Silvia Maestrelli and Federico Curtaz (one-time agronomist for Gaja in Piedmont) have spotlighted a very special place. Musmeci comes from a tiny hamlet of houses and farm buildings that belonged to Signor Musmeci, who in the past took care of the alberello-trained vineyards, now almost 100 years old. As far as whites go, the winery produces Etna Bianco apuddara, a cru of carricante grapes that we can sum up with two adjectives: mineral and stony. It is a wine that has won Tre Bicchieri from the guide, Vini dItalia, for the last two years. Etna Rosso Musmeci, aged only in large barrels and tonneaux, is a champion of elegance and finesse. It starts in a low key, delicate, relaxed, whispering, and embodies all the character of the volcano. It is a red that powerfully reflects the vintag e year as only great wines can do. We started with the first year of Musmeci produced, 2007, ending with the 2010 that will be released next year in order to allow longer bottle-aging. ot very suited to prolonged aging on a large scale. 2007 The first vintage released, and it immediately won a Tre Bicchieri award. There are very few wines in Gambero Rosso history that have zoomed ahead at this pace. The 2007 bewitched us for its elegant impact, its precise, undulating rhythm, its slow, subtle and very long progression. An auteur wine, like a Keith Richards solo. Fruit is perfectly ripe, the finish long and suavely smoky. Right now, the vintage is passing through a phase of slight reduction, but if you have some in your cellar, dont be in a hurry. In the future it will provide you with new emotions. 92

Ex-cellar price: 20 Bottles: 4,000 0.75 and 500 magnum 2008 If, among the four, We had to open one bottle right now, this would be our choice. The nose? Everything you look for in an old vineyard cultivated in Etnas garden. This is its moment of grace: beautiful, harmonious opening, notes of dried flowers, a hint of capers, rosemary, then freshly-ground pepper and a undertone of graphite (ripiddu). At each sip, a new sensation. On the palate theres a wrinkle that gives it character: a slightly ruffled tannin and a taut yet relaxed mouth, with a fully natural progression to a perfectly resolved finish: fresh, long and continuous. A unique personality. 91 Ex-cellar price: 20 Bottles: 10,000 0.75 and 500 magnum 2009 Considering the vintage year, a miracle. The 2009 is the one that most plays the fruit card, with notes of cherries and darker tones of currants, and a profile that is more markedly balsamic. The slimmer vintage leaves more space for delicate toasted notes of wood. The palate is mouth-filling, juicy but not passive, with full-flavored tension and development. A finish on notes of fruit, morello cherries, but also violets. Very focused and satisfying. 88 Ex-cellar price: 18 Bottles: 10,000 0.75 and 500 magnum Tenuta di Fessina has earned Winery of the Year honors from Wine & Spirits magazine for 2013.From Wine&Spirits: Each year, our panels and critics blind taste more than 12,000 wines, to present the most

Laeneo, Sicilia DOC. Nerello Cappuccio 100% From Santa Maria di Licoda

We are still student of this marvelous land. Nerello cappuccio, one of the two variety which they made our Etna rosso had been a great surprise for us. The vines lies beside the Carricante vineyard, same altitude and south exposure, where little grapes ripe late in the fall, giving us a fresh, juicy spicy wine. Just steel tank fermentation to save fruit, a simple drinkable seductive wine that match extremely well whit roasted meat an d pastas, few fascinating bottles, for curious gentle men and gentle women. TENUTA DI FESSINA Laeneo Sicilia 2011 91 points. A fabulous entry-level red, the 2011 Nerello Cappuccio Laeneo bursts from the glass with expressive dark fruit, violets, menthol, flowers and licorice. TENUTA DI FESSINA APuddara Bianco Etna 2010 91 points. The 2010 Etna Carricante A Puddara bristles with energy and pure class. Lemon, white flowers and crushed rocks emerge in the glass, but ultimately the 2010 is all about textural elegance and sheer class. This is a stunningly beautiful wine that captures the essence of Carricante. High Mountain Carricante_ by Livia Belardelli 02-09-2013_ This expression is emblematic of Etnas a muntagna wines. The old vines and volcanic soil provide all the force needed for a charge from 900, above sea level. This area by now synonymous with quality but its wines were already appreciated way back in 1968 thanks to the foresight of Mario Soldati who said: Etna white brings and merges together, in its pallor and its aroma, in its freshness and in its hidden smoky vein, the perennial shows of the mountain top and the fire of the volcano. A Puddara 2010_ Etna Bianco Doc_ Fessina_ Rating 89; Category White; Region Sicilia; Country Italy; A Puddara stands out for its violent aromatic intensity, made up

of fragrant herbs, spices, juicy yellow fruit and bitter lemon. The mouthfeel is even more ferocious, as if marked by the imprint of the volcano, with a distinct sapidity, vegetal returns and smoky nuances that accompany a long finish. Price: 23 euros (Doctor Wine by Daniele Cernilli)
