In Japan
Baths: Japanese people do not use baths just to wash themselves; they also like to warm themselves by soaking slowly in deep tub full of hot water. The actual washing and rinsing is done outside the tub. Baths are constructed to allow the water in the tub to be heated directly, so when the level of hot water drops, it is topped up with cold water and reheated. A number of people use the same bath in turn, and the tub is emptied after the last person has finished. Following pictures are Jigokudani-Hells Valley in Nagano prefecture and the only place that monkeys take hot spring bath and will be on the itinerary for my Japan tour in May 2007

Mondo Grass (Ophiopogon japonica)

This soft grass is commonly used in Japan for many years as ground cover, edging beside walk way and accent. Japanese common name is Dragons whisker. Small white flower turning into blue berry later but hard to notice. If you want to use as ground cover then read this carefully because I only tell you once. Take Mondo Grass from pot and shake off all soil. Separate them one by one but make sure each

MG has roots attached. Mix manure to mulch and plant them like rice paddy. They spread evenly this way and youll cover more area than planting other way. Sure its take more time but end-result like this picture,

Womens rule for Men If you did something wrong or even if you didnt, apologize.

Why men cant win If you get a promotion ahead of her, that is favouritism. If she gets a job ahead of you, its equal opportunity.
We saw two kangaroo fights, and a wedge tail eagles nest that had two eggs. One week later there were two chicks with yellow beaks. Another week later their beaks were brown and a piece of meat was there. It was amazing to see how fast they grew. The Moora boys even taught me how to catch garfish with a stick at night. We took a torch and lit up the surface, wait till garfish coming to the light then hit them with stick. We caught about ten fish but most are broken half and wasnt easy to eat them. Even my boss (old English man) showed me how to pickle freshwater mussels which we caught from a stream near Gingin where we were working. Continue to Page 3

It took me one week to get back my surveyors intuition. Funny enough back in Japan, surveying was my favourite job. At least I didnt waste what I learnt. My English wasnt really good but once I learnt survey words, I was able to work like I used to in Japan and started to do my bosss job. I was promoted and also got two Moora boys as my assistant. Those boys taught me how to swear (I didnt know how to swear until then), how to catch bunnies and skin them, then cook. Also how to eat blackboys (Grass trees to be politically correct), and other bush tucker.

Ah by the way, we worked very hard to finish well ahead of schedule, and to our pride were second to none with our accuracy. Those Moora boys. They are hard workers. Mind you once you are in bush, not much else to do but work. Because our job was investigation survey, we camped in the bush by ourselves which meant we had to cook every night and make our own breakfast and lunch. This was the time I started to drink. beer with boys then red wine with boss! I even learned to order the pizza when we are in Moora. One night boys said Cmon Eiji, You order it So, I ordered a pizza. When it came out of the oven, the man behind the counter asked Would you like it cut into six or eight pieces, Make it six please I said. I dont think I can eat eight. Ha,ha,ha. To be Continued

7.You may need final adjustment for water to run the . way you wanted. Personally I like to set with stone lantern that gives good balance and harmony to finish.

If you like to drop a spot light in water then tray is the good idea to use, otherwise you can use square pond for same result like photo below. You can adjust the flow of water to change sounds of the water. Next issue is Water harp of past.
