For Immediate Release Contact: Christopher Thomas 585.281.2617 (November 21, 2013Rochester, NY) Mayor-Elect Lovely A.

Warren, announced today that she has resigned her post as Northeast District Representative to Rochester City Council; a position she has held for the past six years. Warren released the following letter to her constituents: It is with deep appreciation that I am writing this letter of thanks for your support over the past six years. It has been my pleasure to serve as your City Council district representative; as I am now honored to serve as Rochesters next Mayor. I am so proud of all the hard work we have done together to improve the quality of life in our neighborhood and our many accomplishments. From major initiatives like making sure that the Genesee Brew House was built, to the more basic (but important!) things like providing fresh food and vegetables to many residents through community gardening -- we certainly have come a long way together. There is still much to do, no doubt, but I firmly believe that by continuing to work together, we can improve the quality of life for many more of our city neighbors. I am most excited about the many block clubs and neighborhood groups that have started over the last six years; from Bridges to Wellness to Project Hope, from the Marketview Heights Collective Action Project to the LeFrois Street Block Club, to the Unity Block Club and so many others. Despite our challenges, the residents of Northeast Rochester are resilient. I am committed to continuing the great work that we started and will work with your new representative to make sure that the needs of the citizens of Rochester are put first. Today I am announcing my resignation as your City Council representative to prepare for the exciting and challenging days ahead as your new Mayor. Please know you will always have a special place in my heart. City Council will have 30 days from the day I resign to meet and appoint a new representative, after which that person will have to run in a new election to fill the remainder of my term. At this time, I am not sure who will emerge as a candidate to replace me, but I am sure that whomever it is will respect the work that we have done over the past six years and will help build a bright future alongside each of you. Although I am resigning, Tracey Miller will remain on until the end of the year to archive my files, finish unfinished constituent matters and help the new representative transition into the office. Again, I am thankful to you for allowing me to serve you, and I look forward to representing you as your Mayor beginning January 1, 2014. -30-
