Question/Problem
Problem - The problem is a event that you need to nd the cause. For the scientic method to answer the question it must be about something that you can measure. Brain Pop ( Sci Inquiry) Science Buddies
Inference/Hypothesis
Inference - What you thought happened to it. Hypothesis - A test worthy thing that explains the details that you observed. You must make your hypothesis in a way so you can easily measure it. Brain Pop ( Sci Inquiry) Science Buddies
Materials
Materials- Materials are thing you need to have when you have a experiment.
Explain
Method/Experiment
Experiment - Testing your hypothesis. Repeat your experiments several times to make sure that the rst results weren't just an accident. Brain Pop ( Sci Inquiry) Science Buddies
Observations
Observations - What you can see on the object or the details. Brain Pop (Sci Inquiry)
Conclusion
Conclusion - The outcome of your experiment. Once your experiment is complete, you collect your measurements and analyze them to see if they support your hypothesis or not. Brain Pop ( Sci Inquiry) Science Buddies
Evaluation
Explain
Variables
Variable - The object that changes the experiment. Brain Pop ( Sci Inquiry)
Bias
Bais- The unfair thing in a experiment
Explain
Theory
Theory - A statement that has been repeatedly conrmed by an experiment. ! ! Brain Pop ! ( Sci Inquiry) !
Law
Hypothesis!
People would choose the contrasting colour over the matching colour.
Material! Scissors, 1A4 page of 1 green paper ,1 A4pages of a green paper cut in 1inch squares, 1 piece of brown paper cut in 1inch squares.
Method! 1.Cut one page of green and one page of brown paper into 1inch squares. ! 2. Arrange the squares onto a piece of green paper.! 3. Give subjects ve seconds as many pieces of paper as they can. Limit subjects to picking up 1 piece at a time. ! 4. Record how many green pieces and how many brown subject picks up. ! 5. Tally the results !
Conclusion
Our experiment went great. Our hypothesis was correct. People choose more brown than the camouaging colour. I show in the graph that 35% choose green 65% choose brown.
Evaluation I think we should have gotten more people to do the test. We also should of have more turns given out because you can't really make a conclusion with such little data.
Experiment 3: Eggs-Periment !
Problem How can I tell the difference between a cooked egg and a raw egg?
Observations We put the eggs in water but that did not give us anything. Then Rafael tried to smell it but that did not work. But we were pretty sure that we knew answer by the shake method.
Hypothesis A cooked egg will spin where a raw egg will not.
Materials Three eggs, two raw eggs, one cooked. Hard surface
Method Spin each of the eggs in a hard surface. Watch record and obverse.
Conclusion When we did the experiment two of the eggs didn't really spin and the one span fast so I think the one that span really fast was the cooked egg because there was only one of them.!
Evaluation Next time I think we could of had more eggs. Also having different types of eggs.!
Problem Does the temperature of the water impact the number of the Paperclips. !
Observations When the water was moving the Paperclips sunk, and when it was still the Paperclips stayed up. The more the less the water is moving. !
Hypothesis ! The hot water would probably not be as stable because the hot water's density is more so it will not be able to hold as much and it would be harder to put them. ! Materials Warm, cold and room temperature water, three containers and Paperclips ! Method First put each different water in a container. Then put as many Paperclips as you can in each container to see what holders more and to see what is the one that is harder to put the Paperclip. Conclusion In conclusion the cold and the room temperature are the best to keep the Paperclips up.
Evaluation What I think we could of done better is we could of made a better tool because when we put the Paperclips in the hot water it burns our ngers.
Problem Which laundry detergent is the best? ! Hypothesis! I think that ?????? will be the best.!
Materials 25 pieces of fabric, 5 kinds of laundry detergent, BBQ sauce, ketchup, grass, coffee, soda, mud and ve containers. ! Method 1. Get 25 white pieces of fabric.! 2. Then get ketchup, BBQ sauce, grass, cola and mud. ! 3. Put separate stain equipment on different pieces fabric. ! 4. Fill 5 each container with 2 cups of water. ! 5. Put each of the fabrics in the separate container. ! 6. Shake the containers for ten minutes.! 7. Take out the fabrics and rate them from 1-5 ( 1 is the worst and 5 is the best.) based on how the detergent helped. ! 8. Repeat and see if you get the same answer. !
Problem Can you make tension fractures in cookie dough. Obsverations The incisions in the middle
Materials - mixing spoon ! - large bowl ! - measuring cup! - measuring spoons ! - 1/4x1/4- inch x 2-foot ( 0.63x0.63x60-cm) square dowels! - wooden cutting board ( or similar smooth surface) ! - rolling pin ! - knife ! - Cookie Dough Recipe ! - 1/4 pound (115g) butter ( softened at room temperature) ! - 3/4 cup (150g) sugar ! - 1 egg ! - 1/2 teaspoon ( 2.5 ml) vanilla ! - 1 tablespoon (15ml) cream or milk ! - 1 1/4 cups (175g) our ! - 1/8 teaspoon ( 0.31 ml or pinch) salt ! - 1/4 teaspoon ( 1.25 ml) baking powder
Method 1. Take your play dough and chopsticks. Stretch your play dough and take your chopsticks and put them on the sides. ! ! 2. Then take a knife and make a straight cut down.! ! 3. Hold on the chopsticks and then stretch them. ! ! 4. Watch and observe ! ! 5. Take the play dough and mush it all together.! ! 6. Repeat but this time put three cuts down in the centre. ! ! 7. Watch and observe. ! ! 8. Mush together and and repeat but this time add ve cuts in the centre. ! ! 9. Compare results.
Problem: Will adding garlic to cow feed refuse the amount of methane produced by cows? Hypothesis: I think the garlic will make a big difference. Materials - 5 cows ! - garlic ! - cow feed! - 5 tents
Method - Get six cows ! - Put each cow in tent! - Feed the three cows feed with garlic and the other three feed without garlic.! - Keep the the cows in the tents for two weeks.
