SUBIECTUL I
Read the text below and complete the following tasks.

Although we try our best to protect young children from illnesses, it is an inevitable fact that, despite our best efforts, they will all contract their share of colds, flu, and ear infections. While some babies are more prone to ear problems than others, it is highly likely that most children will have had earache at least once by the time they have reached their third year. (1) Children often suffer from flu and ear infection at the same time which means the symptoms of one ailment are often confused with those of the other. More often than not, it is impossible to figure out if your childs high fever, lack of energy and loss of appetite are a result of the common cold, or if they are caused by ear infections. While toddlers and pre-school children can explain to you where they hurt, babies lack the ability to communicate to you where their pain is. (2) Primarily, there are two kinds of ear infection: one which is caused by bacteria, and the other which is viral in nature. (3) As many ear infections clear up on their own, a GP will usually observe a child for a few days before deciding whether or not they would benefit from a course of antibiotics. If the doctor decides to prescribe antibiotics, there should be a noticeable improvement in the childs condition within two or three days. (4) 1. Four sentences have been removed from the text.
