Warriors Don't Cry: A Searing Memoir of the Battle to Integrate Little Rock's Central High. This primary source is a first hand account of the battle for equality which we used because it provided a deeper perspective on the whole topic. This a primary source because it was a photograph. I was able to interpret the tension and hate that the Little Rock Nine had to endure from all the angry white people in hat place. We used this source because it not only gave us insight into the event of the little rock nine but gave us first hand personal accounts. Nagle, Mary Kathryn. "Standing Bear V. We used this as a source to see how people from another state not a deep in the south would react to the integration of blacks and whites in the school system.

This source was a website and it gave the state of Arkansass point of view of the events of the Little Rock Nine. It was very helpful because it gave some interesting information that I was not able to find on any other source. In this source, I was able to identify key moments of the Brown v. Board of Education case and the Little Rock Nine. Web. 13 Sept. 2013. This secondary source was a website and it was used to help me understand one of the five cases included in the Brown v. Board of Education case. This source was very detailed and went in depth with this one case; from the actions that causes of why the case was filed all the way to when it was reviewed by the Supreme Court. This source was used in the third main body paragraph. This source is reliable because it was well written and had much detail. Brown Case - Bolling V. Sharpe | Brown Foundation. Web. 13 Sept. 2013. This source was a website and this broadened my understanding of one of the cases and that was reviewed by the Supreme Court. This was very in depth since it only analyzed one case out of the many others. I used this source in the third main body paragraph where I explained what the event was. This website was a secondary source that I used in the third main section where I introduce what the main event/turning point is. This source was very useful because I got to see an in depth analysis of an important case which would eventually be a part of the Brown v. Board of Education case. I used this source in the section where I address the turning point. This source was reliable because it was very well written.

I used this in the paragraph where I talk about the main event. This source was very helpful because it was very detailed in describing and analyzing the main events related with this case. I used this source where I introduced the main turning point. This source was reliable because the information on this source was similar to other sources I used. Brown V. This source was a website and it was very helpful because it described many of the events that led up to the main event and then describing many of the effects that soon followed. Although this case explained many different events, it wasnt as in depth as some other sources. Although there were many useful facts, there was no in depth analysis of each event, and so I used this website to help me look for other topics (events) I should be researching. This website was very useful in beginning my research since it explained some very key points well in depth. I used this source in the background paragraph as well as the social impacts paragraph and long term changes paragraph. I used this source when I first started my research in order to gain a broader understanding of the topic. This source was very detailed in explaining the unfair laws put up against the blacks since slavery ended. This source helped me analyze specific examples of laws that the blacks had to endure. In this source, I was able to get an in depth look of the life of Thurgood Marshall who was one of the key people in making this case successful. This source was a website and it helped me learn more about the whites' reaction to the new amendment since it explained the actions whites had taken since the decision was made. Though my group was unable to obtain this secondary source, this book emphasizes on the ideas of multicultural curriculum and how it differed from segregated curriculum. This would help me group develop our ideas about educational curriculum after desegregation. Bankston III, Carl. Civil Rights Movement. Salem Press. Accessed October 31, 2013. This secondary source presented information about the Civil rights movement during the mid1950s to late 1960s. It gave specific historical origins as it also gave key organization that help

make this movement possible. This gave insight to our group about the Civil Rights Movement and gave us a very basic background about this time period. Baradat, Leon P. This Introduction book introduces the ideas of political science, and political theory to high school students. To obtain this book, it would help my group develop understandings about political ideologies during the time of desegregation. Barnes, Catherine A. Journey from Jim Crow: The Desegregation of Southern Transit. New York: Columbia University Press, 1983 Though my group was unable to obtain this secondary source, this books goes over various political philosophies on immigration. Also this book end up describing the implications of desegregation in the south as it also goes over liberal practices throughout liberal democratic states. Bates, Daisy. The Long Shadow of Little Rock. Fayetteville: University of Arkansas Press, 2000. This source is a secondary source. I used this to learn more about the long term effects of the Little Rock Nine event. This source was very detailed with its information and explained greatly. I used this source to get a very insight and personal look of what each of the Little Rock Nine had to face every day while going to school there. It showed in great detail and with much emotion how each one of them felt as they were threatened every single day. This source was reliable because it had quotes from people of that event. This source was pretty reliable because it was very well detailed, yet it wasnt all that helpful since there was only one chapter devoted to my topic. Benjamin L. Hooks, "Birth and Separation of the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund," Crisis 1979 This secondary source explained the history and the major points of the NAACP, it highlights the major events and involvement with the community. Bennett, Christine. Comprehensive Multicultural Education: Theory and Practice. 6th ed. Boston: Allyn & Bacon, 2006. Though my group was unable to obtain this secondary source, this book emphasizes and presents mutilpe about of primary sources that help the reader develop new ideas about multicultural education. If my group was able to obtain this book we would be able to build upon our knowledge about multicultural education while being open to new ones.

Berman, William C. The Politics of Civil Rights in the Truman Administration. Columbus: Ohio State University Press, 1970. Review of the issues and politics of civil rights under the Truman administration as they relate to the growing political influence of African Americans in the Democratic Party. Though my group was unable to obtain this secondary source, this book presents and reviews issues about politics of civil rights, and how the Afro-Americans were able to influence politics through the Democratic Party. This would help develop new ideas about politics during the time and how the Afro-Americans were able to contribute their own ideas to the table. Branton, Wiley A. "Little Rock Revisited: Desegregation to Resegregation." Journal of Negro Education 1983 This secondary source provided us with information about the little rock nine, it didnt really provide much, since the other source provided more content. Though my group was unable to obtain this secondary source, this source presents detailed accounts of the Brown v. Mississippi case. This would help our group develop new ideas about Brown v. This secondary source gives a very compressive analysis about Brown v. Board of Education documents. This helped our group develop new ideas about the Brown v. Board case and introduces new arguments to the table.

My group was unable to obtain secondary source but through summaries it gives a great perspective on Jim Crow and the Jim Crow Laws during World War II. Elizabeth Jacoway. Turn Away Thy Son: Little Rock, the Crisis That Shocked the Nation (2007). This secondary source provided us information about the little rock nine. It added to our preconceived notions about the little rock nine and their fight for equality. Fix, Michael, and Raymond Struyk, eds. Though my group was unable to obtain this secondary source, this book goes over the nature of discrimination in American society and in areas of housing and employment. This helps our group develop new growing knowledge of these personal experiences.

This secondary source was a book that I used to get a better understanding of the struggles of integrating schools after the Brown decision. This source was very detailed in the events that occurred in the Little Rock Nine crisis and it was very reliable because it had quotes to back up facts. Irons, Peter. Though my group was unable to obtain this secondary source, this books presents a new argument about how desegregation during the 1950s was a period o slow and flawed progress for Afro- Americans in education. I used this source to get a deeper insight of the events that occurred at the event. It showed the peoples motives, plans, etc. This source is reliable because since it is a book, it should have been fact checked and corrected if any of the information was false.

This secondary source was a book describing many events that involved inequalities and injustices based on race in American school systems. Although there were many facts in the books, I was only able to use a couple of the chapters since those were the only ones

with relevant information. I use this source in background paragraph and turning point paragraph. This source was reliable because the source included quotes by people in that time period. This source is a secondary source since it is a book. This source is reliable it is a book, so they have people there to fact check it to make sure all the information is valid. Though my group was unable to obtain this secondary source this books goes over about first person accounts by blacks and whites that help describe the injustices during the mid to late 1900s. If we are able to obtain this book it would give us new insight on these accounts between the blacks and whites during a time civil rights and desegregation. Magstadt, Thomas M. This secondary source presents information about racial discrimination and how it affected both sides of the spectrum, whites and blacks.
