Write Type There are four ethods of writing discs in I g(urn; Incre ental, Trac$-atonce )T.&,, Session-at-once )S.&, and #isc-at-once )#.&,. &n #/#A7# #/#A(lu-ray the only supported write types are Incre ental, S.&A#.& )and ':ayer Ju p' but that only applies to #/#-" #: and isn't supported by I g(urn because it's a waste of ti e,. #isc-at-once is used to write the edia in one continuous process. The laser is not turned off until all infor ation has been written to the edia. Sessionat-once )S.&, and #.& are basically the sa e thing. It's called S.& on +# and #.& on #/#A7# #/#A(lu-ray. If you select anything that's not supported it'll 9ust default to S.&A#.&. Selecting Incre ental for +#'s will defaults to S.&A#.& as it's not i ple ented for +#'s. . Incremental 2nli$e 'at once' recording, incre ental writing )or pac$et writing, is a recording ethod which allows data trac$s to be divided up into s all chun$s called pac$ets )typically LC =b - F Mb in si!e,. 0ach pac$et can then be written separately to the disc, with interruptions if necessary. (etween the writing of pac$ets, there are virtually no data rate constraints. This eans that writing can be interrupted for an unli ited a ount of ti e, which reduces the ris$ of buffer under runs when writing large a ounts of data to a #/#. . T.O 2sing Trac$-at-once )T.&, eans that after each trac$ is written, the writer drive turns its laser off and a$es any necessary align ent changes before continuing to the next trac$. 'hen writing an audio +#, Trac$-at-once can be good to use because it gives the writer drive and the source device a 4uic$ brea$ between trac$s. This allows the source device a chance to fill the buffer, or cache on the +#-'riter drive to better ensure that buffer

under runs are avoided, if possible. The two second gap between songs when playing bac$ an audio +# are the brea$s on the disc when the laser was turned off during writing. . S.O/D.O Session-at-once )S.&, and #isc-at-once )#.&,, as its na e i plies, is the process of writing an entire disc's worth of data in a single operation, and the disc is closed, without ever turning off the writing laser. There are a few reasons why S.&A#.& ay be used. The ain reason why S.&A#.& would be selected has to do with the aterial being written to the +#. Many audio perfor ances do not have silent brea$s between piecesR for exa ple, in live concerts the audience fills the gaps between songs. If the audio events to be recorded are eant to be played bac$ with no silent gaps between trac$s, S.&A#.& should be selected.
