FILLING OF TEST MEDIUM 1.1 The Tank shall be filled with water by any suitable low pressure filling lines, while venting through the vent on the upper most nozzles. The capacity of the filling pump shall be controlled to maintain adequate venting to avoid air pocket entrapments. 1.2 Before applying pressure, the test operator shall check equipment to assure that all low pressure filling lines and other appurtenances that should not be subjected to test pressure have been disconnected or isolated by valves or other suitable means. 1.3 For site-fabricated tank, Filling of water shall be done in steps. Initially, one forth ( th) of the tanks shall be filled & settling of the tank on foundation shall be observed for one hour (approx.). Then the level of water shall be increased in steps to one half (), three quarter ( th) & full (up to design liquid level) respectively & tank shall be kept under observation for one hour at each position. After complete filling, tank shall be kept for twenty-four hours. The Water filling rate shall not exceed the rate shown in the table:

1.4 Tank settlement inspection shall be performed by measuring elevation readings at equidistance around the Tank circumference. Readings shall be taken before the test, at filled point, filled point, after 24 hrs from filling the Tank at the max. water fill height and after the tank has been emptied. 2 VISUAL INSPECTION 2.1 During test, inspection for leakage, bulging or other visible defects shall be made on the whole body of the tank. Close examination shall be carried out on all weld joints and connections. 2.2 The above inspection shall be performed by qualified inspector & Clients Inspector. 3 SAFETY PRECAUTIONS 3.1 Signs shall be displayed at roped off areas indicating that test is under progress. Only authorized persons shall be allowed within the test area during testing. 3.2 All authorized personnel allowed within the test area shall stay clear off the tank during testing. 4 DRAINING

4.1 After completion of the test, check valve shall be installed in reverse position and drain valve shall be opened to remove water from inside the tank. Pump shall be used for complete drainage from the sump. The Water shall be disposed off at appropriate place identified by site personnel. 4.2 After all water has been drained, the Tank shall be examined internally for cleanliness / drying and final inspection shall be carried out.

REPAIR & TEST 5.1 During inspection, if leaks, cracks or any other defects are observed, the same shall be repaired as per approved welding procedure specifications & by qualified welders. 5.2 After successful repair, the tank shall be re-tested as per this procedure. 5.3 If during test & inspection, any excessive change in the shape of tank is noticed, the design of the tank shall be reviewed & means shall be provided in the tank to retain the designated shape within permissible limits.
