Language is an ever changing thing.

Words that one generation used to mean one thing suddenly takes on other meanings. People of younger generations say words that I don't have any idea what they are talking about. But I do know that I feel uncomfortable listening to conversation filled with profanity and foolishness. I conclude that our spirit recognizes the uncleaness in the atmosphere. The spirit of the christian man and woman is where God communicates with us and directs us. It is sealed by the Holy Spirit, and made righteous and clean by the blood of Jesus. Nothing can defile our spirit because of this seal. Ephesians 1 : 12-13 That we should be to the praise of His glory, who first trusted in Jesus. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise. But our soul can be defiled with the conversation around us that we are listening to. Also by what we are allowing ourselves to watch on television, and other media. Have you ever thought that it was hard to feel God's presence in your heart? Take a thought to your conversation and what you do with your time. Do you ever find yourself just saying whatever comes to mind? Truthfully that is a dangerous practice, because the devil can form all sorts of wrong thoughts in our minds. Then when we speak them out freely, we give power to them. Proverbs 18: 21 says that death and life are in the power of the tongue. Our words will lift others up - give life, or they will bring destruction and injury - death. In another place Jesus was speaking to the multitudes and He said (Matt 15:10-11) Hear and understand. Not that which goes into the mouth defiles a man, but that which comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man. The Message translation says it clearly: Mat 15:17 Don't you know that anything that is swallowed works its way through the intestines and is finally defecated? Mat 15:18 But what comes out of the mouth gets its start in the heart. Mat 15:19 It's from the heart that we vomit up evil arguments, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, lies, and cussing. Mat 15:20 That's what pollutes. Eating or not eating certain foods, washing or not washing your hands--that's neither here nor there." So what are we going to do as christian men and women?? We have to go to work and be around those who do not believe as we do in lots of places. We start quoting scripture all the time and that could get us fired. Or totally disregarded. And speaking like everyone else does is destructive to us. First of all, be relevant to where you are. You are an intelligent person and you know how to get along with those around you. Not using profanity is a good first step. Leave off the "colorful" jokes. Proverbs says a merry heart does good like a medicine, and in God's presence is fullness of joy, so laughter is a good thing. Jokes can be told, just make a good choice in those you repeat. Working relationships still give opportunities to show the love of God. Be watchful for them. Our words can affirm what is good in someone else and not many people refuse a prayer when they are in serious need. If you have been watching your words people will be seeing the difference and when the right moment comes and you speak what the Lord gives you to say, they will take you seriously. Whether we realize it our not, choosing words carefully will prepare us to have the right thing in our mouth when we need it. It is just like practicing for a game. What you do in regular practice

will come out on the field. Well, what we do with our words in private will come out, right in public, right out there in the world. That is why the Bible teaches us to watch what we say all the time. Then when we do have something to say, make sure it lines up according to the Bible. For the assurance that we can do that, we need to spend some time reading the Bible. God has anointed us to be the answer the world is looking for when they are asking some difficult questions. Let your words be filled with the grace of God right now, and you will have the answers in your mouth to give! Prayer: Heavenly Father, I give my words over to You. I repent of every wrong word I have spoken and I pray that the effect of every wrong word will be aborted. I ask You to place a watch over my mouth and teach me how to always speak that which pleases You. Season my words afresh today and I expect to receive Your words of wisdom in my life and to speak to others around me. In the Name of Jesus, Amen!
