Internship Programme The Architecture Foundations internship programme offers an opportunity to be part of the team, and to gain work experience and skills within a leading cultural organisation. The theme for this year will be a time for architecture in the city and will incorporate a programme by invited Festival Partners from leading architectural and cultural institutions in order to harness and to link the enormous energy inherent in the London scene. LFA 2013 is produced collaboratively by Londons leading architectural organisations The Architecture Foundation, New London Architecture (NLA) and Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), British Council - in partnership with a broad range of cultural and professional organisations. Role The Architecture Foundation is looking for a dedicated intern to work three days a week assisting with the delivery of the London Festival of Architecture (LFA). Two of the three days will be hosted at The AF with the third being hosted at other partner locations. The chosen applicant will report to the AF Director and Curator of Special Project and will be required to use his or her own personal laptop as this role requires hot desking. LFA 2013 tasks will include:$ ! Liaising with the AFs Director and Curator of Special Projects and other initiating partners (RIBA, NLA and British Council). ! Assisting with events related to LFA2013, dealing with speakers, contractors and the general public.

Assisting with sending out invitations and managing guest lists to key LFA2013 events. Updating relevant contact lists and coordinating relevant LFA2013 meetings. Managing relevant content on The AF and LFA2013 website. Assisting with research of venues, architects and projects relevant to LFA2013. Drafting relevant documents and assisting with coordinating press materials relating to the LFA2013.

Desirable Experience and Requirements An interest in, and knowledge of, contemporary architecture and urbanism. Familiarity with design packages such as Adobe Creative Suite and web content management systems would be an advantage. Experience of working in an office environment. Experience of dealing with the public. A minimum of two years of undergraduate university education or equivalent.

Due to the itinerant nature of the work, the intern will be required to have access to his or her own laptop. In addition, successful applicants will be able to demonstrate the following: Good writing and organisational skills. Clear and effective communication skills including excellent telephone manner. Ability to take the initiative and recognise tasks that need to be carried out.

Interns need to be able to work effectively both in a team and individually. The LFA2013 Intern will be required to work 3 days a week, and to work selected evening and weekend events as relevant to the role. Remuneration Interns are paid National Minimum Wage and are asked to work four days per week (10am 6pm with a one-hour lunch break) for a period of three months (April June 2013). Any extra hours worked during evening or weekend events should be taken as time off in lieu as no additional compensation will be given.
