Anutone presents Salon Series that evokes the visuals and warmth of olde worlde wood for interiors but is actually derived from a wood substitute, WPC or Wood Plastic Composites (see box on facing page), that helps utilise timber wastes and save forests. Beams, rafters, grids, strips, planks and other wood profiles are all now possible. Structurally lightweight, maintenance-free, durable and environmentally-friendly, the Salon Series results in distinctive interiors that look good and sound great! WPC is also known as timber plastics, lumber plastics or simply bioplastics, an exciting new field of great interest for the building industry. The Salon Series reinforces Anutones tagline, makes you feel good!

ANUTONE WPC - a technical note

Anutone WPC (Wood Plastic Composites) are made from carefully selected, fine wood particles and thermoplastics in state-of-the-art extrusion machines. Anutone brings five decades of experience in WCC (Wood Cement Composites) to its latest business, WPC. Anutone deploys its ISO 9001 quality systems and 14001 environment systems in the contract manufacturing of WPC. The fine wood particles are 50-250 mesh and make 60 per cent by weight of the WPC. Anutone avoids a higher wood content to ensure dimensional stability and long-term durability. Anutone uses maleated thermoplastics as a harmonising binder so as to create a plastic, hydrophobic coating on the hydrophilic wood particles. Additives include pigments, UV stabilisers, fire retardants, biocides etc. Though the density of Anutone WPC is 900 kgs/m3, heavier than solid wood, due to the unique ability of extruding the profiles that results in hollow sections, Anutone ensures the ensuing walls and ceilings are extremely lightweight. Pigments are added during the manufacturing process itself and hence no further staining or polishing is necessary leading to a maintenance-free lifecycle. Anutone WPC are for building interiors used in walls and ceilings. However, the thermoplastics ensure Anutone WPC is highly weather resistant including water resistant, and hence well-suited for Indias hot and humid, tropical climate. Continuing with the wonder story, Anutone WPC can be used in exterior canopies and as siding for a buildings exterior walls. Anutone uses 100 per cent recycled wood and plastics to create a wonder product which is also famously known as green wood. What is more, Anutones WPC can be recycled by re-heating and re-moulding. That makes it 100 per cent recycled and 100 per cent recyclable - earning the project valuable green credits. Anutone WPC, the latest and the best for building interiors. Yet another pioneering initiative by Anutone!

Fire Resistant Test

Let a wood sample and Salon Series catch fire by a burning candle, remove the candle after one minute, the wood is still burning, while the Salon Series of Anutone quenches immediately when the candle is removed.

Water Proof Test

Let a wood sample and Salon series dip in the water at the same time for 30 minutes, wood timber has been obviously inflated to split and distored, while the Salon Series of Anutone has not been affected at all.
