Dear Creative Friend, Two community organizations, the fifty-three year old Lawrence Art Guild, and the

new Lawrence Creates Makerspace, are partnering to develop the Lawrence Creates Makerspace into an economic development engine for Lawrence and surrounding Douglas County. The Lawrence Creates Makerspace is built on the principle that economic development starts with the individual - with people learning, teaching, sharing, collaborating, designing, building, and creating products, services, businesses, and better lives. Our mission is to empower community residents to learn new skills, develop products and businesses, create art, and build their future. An important part of that mission is the development of the Lawrence Creates Art Gallery, which we are launching with an art exhibit featuring one of the foremost artists in the history of Douglas County, the late sculptor Jim Brothers. Please review the attached show description, and consider donating $100 or more to help us to launch the Lawrence Creates Art Gallery and honor this great artist. Please donate online at Lawrenceartguild.org, or make a check out to the Lawrence Art Guild and send it to: Lawrence Art Guild, P.O. Box 1357, Lawrence KS 66044. Thank you in advance for your support! Sincerely,

Amanda Monaghan, Board President, Lawrence Art Guild Eric Kirkendall, Director, Lawrence Creates
