Introducing
XP XP TECHNOLOGY TECHNOLOGY
These results do not surprise me at all. In the last 12 -15 months, I have become a huge AE XP Technology fan. I cant go back!
months later
I am thoroughly impressed with XP Technology by American Eagle. They are way more efcient than other instruments due to not having to sharpen during a procedure and they have continued to remain sharp after many uses! They are a perfect combination of ergonomics and time savers when it comes to instrumentation. I highly recommend them to all hygienists and I look forward to having them in my cassettes!

The XP instruments are absolutely the best instruments Ive ever used. Everything from the light weight, non-slip handle to the sharpest blade Ive ever come across made the appointment with my patient faster and more efcient. The XP instruments removed even the smallest pieces of plaque from hard-to-reach areas on the teeth, so I have no doubt I was providing the highest quality of instrumentation for my patient.

I am very impressed with XP Technology. I scale with a very light hand and have been doing so for 35 years. The XP lets me clean the root surfaces with a gentle touch and with more accuracy. My hands are strong but I appreciate how much easier it is to remove calculus. The Scandette saves time. My patients are very pleased with their hygiene appointments. They tell me how they have no sensitivity after their cleaning. This is huge! I love the American Eagle instruments.

of American Dental Manufacturing, a family-founded dental hand instrument company that made its mark by providing high quality, durable instruments to the dental profession. Through hard work, determination, and Montana pride, the company became a well known and respected manufacturer within the dental industry. The company grew to about 75 employees, many of whom forged careers to become some of the dental industrys best journeymen instrument makers and sharpeners. American Dental was the quality dental instrument company. In 1989, a competitor purchased American Dental Manufacturing and subsequently closed its doors in 1990. Rather than follow the buy-out company, a small group of tenacious and persevering crafts people joined forces in 1992 to form American Eagle Instruments. With engineering experience, unequaled skill, a goal to produce the highest quality dental instruments, and a lead-not-follow philosophy, American Eagle Instruments became reality. Today, American Eagle Instruments has evolved to become the second largest manufacturer of dental hand instruments in North America. Based in Missoula, Montana, and employing approximately 70 crafts people, AEI remains an employee-owned company. We pride ourselves on providing the worlds nest quality dental hand instruments. Our focus remains on progressive, innovative dental products which allow the practitioner more efcient processes with added ergonomic comfort. AEI offers comprehensive lines of dental products designed for the forward thinking dental professional. Our product lines include diagnostic, curettes, scalers, composites, restorative, cone socket instruments, and magnetostrictive and piezo ultrasonic tips. AEIs latest innovations include titanium implant instruments and unique Double Gracey instruments. Additionally, AEI provides associated dental products which include cassettes, sharpening systems, handpiece lubricants, and endodontic instruments. American Eagle Instruments also offers state-of-the-art surface engineering technology, featuring the XP line of instruments. Our XP Technology instruments are fabricated using a patented surface engineering process that results in razor-sharp edges that start sharp and stay sharp longer than any carbon or stainless steel instruments available. XP Technology reects the latest innovation in dental hand instruments - providing you with instruments that require NO SHARPENING! From product development to manufacturing, AEI employee-owners take extreme pride in their craftsmanship abilities. The AEI team possesses years of hands-on experience in the development and fabrication of dental instruments. We manufacture the highest quality instruments and hold ourselves to the highest standards. American Eagle Instruments offers our customers state-of-the-art dental products while still being progressive with the latest trends and requirements within the industry. We know our customers expect nothing less from a company that delivers Better Dentistry by Design.

The universal scaler seta combination of the Talon for anterior and the Claw for posterior. Eagle Talon is a combination of two already popular anterior tips: the Jacquette 3 and the Nebraska 128. Eagle Claw is the ideal universal posterior scaler with a classic design for tight, interproximal areas. Sharpen-free XP instruments keep their shape throughout the useful life of the instrument.
These two instruments will replace your separate posterior, anterior, thin and rigid sickles while doing a better job of deposit removal. Ergonomically superior, buy less instruments and save time because you never have to sharpen.

To extend the life of your color probe, it is best to avoid ultrasonic cleaning which may effect the bond of the color markings to the stainless steel. We recommend hand cleaning the tip with mild liquid soap prior to sterilization. During sterilization, avoid temperatures in excess of 300F/150C, at which point your color probe markings risk becoming discolored.

Rounded-end plugger/paddle
NEW!
Dr. Jacksons instrument series is designed specially for posterior composite placement. The rounded-end pluggers with thin opposing blades are for rapid packing, pressing and shaping. The unique RJ 3 instrument offers two short, very thin blades that allow for precise final occlusal contouring, while the G4-5 provides offset blades for final sculpting of the proximal and occlusal areas. All are surface engineered with AEIs patented XP Technology , providing composite instruments with a superior smooth surface.
I dont think there are better composite instruments in the marketplace. The new XP instruments by American Eagle have taken it to a new level. Dr. Ron Jackson
XP Technology is a patented surface engineering process. This technology is a proprietary process in which the metallurgical composition of the instruments surface is enhanced, giving it the properties of a much more durable material. This patented process allows us to create a super smooth surface, offering composite instruments with properties that boast no sticking or pull back.

P I E ZO U LT R A S ON I C T I P S OPTIMUM EFFICIENCY
Each Piezo tip comes with a convenient wear indicator card to measure the amount of wear your tip has endured. When a 0.5mm (half millimeter) wear is indicated, the tip should be replaced. Most Piezo tips wear to two millimeters (2.0mm) before replacement is recommended. At this point, tip efficiency has been sacrificed 50%. Efficiency loss results in: Increased patient distress and pain Practitioner discomfort Longer patient visits Lost revenue Reduced deposit removal XP Technology significantly decelerates tip wear; tips will only wear a half-millimeter (0.5mm) during their useful lifetime, with no loss of efficiency. Infinitips provide: Greater patient comfort Reduced operator hand fatigue More efficient patient visits Shorter treatment time

INSTRUMENT MAINTENANCE
Rinsing
Rinse thoroughly with warm water. We recommend using demineralized water for rinsing; not tap water (tap water may contain elements detrimental to the instrument).
Cleaning
Stubborn impurities and debris should be manually removed with a soft brush. Clean instruments manually, in an ultrasonic cleaning unit, or washer disinfector (as per unit manufacturers instructions). Place instruments into cassettes prior to cleaning (do not overload cassettes).
Technique Do practice care as these instruments have a sharper edge on a thinner blade. Do lightly scale away calculus with 4-6 strokes. Avoid fracturing away calculus. Avoid use on margins, overhangs, amalgam and composite. Care Do use cassettes for cleaning and storage. Do periodically test for sharpness with an AEI test stick.
(American Eagle product code: AESASTS)
Drying
DRY THOROUGHLY after cleaning and prior to sterilization.
Lubrication
Lubricate hinged instruments after rinsing and before sterilization.
Do separate XP Technology instruments from all other instruments Do use Ph balanced cleaners. Do always rinse with demineralized water after ultrasonic cleaning. Do dry instruments before sterilization. Avoid use of Chlorine, Chloride, NaCl (Sodium Chloride), and Fluoride based solutions. Sterilization Do use autoclave sterilization and strictly follow unit manufacturers recommendations. Do allow for complete drying cycle. Storing Do thoroughly dry before storing.
when cleaning/sterilizing. AEI recommends not combining dissimilar metals.
Sterilizing
Autoclaving Place clean, dry, properly packed instruments into the autoclave. Follow the unit manufacturers recommendations for sterilization.
Inspection
After instrument care and maintenance, thoroughly inspect instruments for any remaining debris or damage prior to use.

INSPECT
To maintain optimal cutting edges on your instruments, AEI recommends routine sharpness testing by use of a test stick. To test for sharpness, simply stroke the test stick as you would during use. If the instrument grabs it is sharp; if it does not it should be resharpened or discarded. We do not recommend sharpening XP Technology instruments. Simply discard and replace.

American Eagle cassettes bring together the crucial elements of cleaning, sterilization, storage, and organization of instruments in one integrated program. The key benefit of this system is the provision of a truly disciplined approach to infectious disease control. At the same time, achieving greater efficiency chair side, as well as in the daily care and management of instruments.
Re-sharpening dental instruments can be inconvenient, tedious and challenging. However, it is important to maintain sharp edges on your curettes and scalers. Our Simply Sharp Kit is designed with your convenience in mind. The double-sided stone offers you the choice of an extra-fine surface on one side and coarse grit on the other. The kit also includes a powerful 10x loupe for examining your edges. A sharpening test stick is included to conveniently test the cutting edge.
SHARPENING TECHNIQUE

1. Using the 10x magnification loupe, inspect cutting edges for defects. 2. Pick your method, sharpen your instrument, and test (using the test stick). 3. Inspect again by using the magnification loupe for proper angle, edge contour, and sharpness (a sharp edge will not reflect light). 4. Repeat steps 2 and 3. Make adjustments as needed until the desired edge is achieved. 5. Always check your instruments to maintain sharpness. We recommend a new instrument be kept for comparison.
METHOD 1 The edge is visible while the stone is moved at the correct angulation, producing a sharp edge. METHOD 2 This method creates less clinician fatigue. However, maintaining the correct angle on the lateral edge may be more difficult, due to the inability to physically see the edge while moving the instrument.
