Most common disasters recorded and quite famous among us all are the hurricane and the tornado. The word hurricane originated from Spanish word huracn, probably from Taino hurakn !od "f Storm# and the word tornado originated from Spanish word tronada thunderstorm#, by associated with Spanish also, tornar to turn#. $ccording to the "%ford &ictionary, the word hurricane simply translated as a storm with a violent wind or cyclone. 'n difference, the word tornado is translated as a mobile, destructive vorte% of violently rotating winds having the appearance of a funnel(shaped cloud. So, from what that we can understand that hurricanes are strong, violent and massive wind that came with a storm, )THE GOD OF STORM*, and tornadoes are spinning winds that are moving and destroying all things along their paths. +urricanes and tornadoes can be easily ,nown as strong and violently winds. We can see that both of them will bring massive destructions to the places they struc,. These harmful disasters are very dangerous and will cause a lot of damages and casualties. 'n the other hand, hurricanes always come with a storm but some tornadoes recorded -ust came as a spinning winds and not with a storm and some of them came in thunderstorms. +urricanes form over water and the storm can be detected days before it become a very massive and destructive disaster. Meanwhile, tornadoes usually form on land and they usually happened in a matter of minutes ./0 to 12 minutes3 before in become a destructive vorte% of violently rotating winds. Throughout the years, many scientists are still researching about these two phenomenon#s. $s these researches show that these two winds are very strong. Most of the hurricanes recorded has the speed less than /42 mph .562 ,m7h3 and for some tornadoes, they can be up to 122 mph .841 ,m7h3. With these speeds or velocities, these winds can wipe out or flew a grown man up to the s,ies. 'n the same time, as the researches prevail that hurricanes can cause damages up to hundred miles wide but tornadoes always cleared the area not more than /75 mile wide only. 't is also recorded that some hurricanes for e%ample the Sandy +urricane, can last up to 1 wee,s or more but for tornadoes, they come and go sometimes not more than / hour period.
