For the sixth consecutive year, Studio Abba from Florence returns to the Grand Palais with the international group of artists OpenArtCode, thanks to the successful initiative, the good feeling and generosity of heart of a fellow artist, Mary Brilli. Perfectly integrated into the Salon of the Socit des Artistes Indpendants, it is with pleasure that we host the twenty-two artists of this group. This international group is remarkable for its charity work and the wealth of pictorial expression and I note with great satisfaction their loyalty to the Socit des Artistes Indpendants, clearly expressing our societys motto: Dans l'art, la libert est la meilleure allie de la cration originale. (In art, freedom is the closest ally of original creation".) Over the years, the morphology of their art has taken on new hues. Individually of course, but also as a group. In reality, the versatile group OpenArtCode uses many different techniques, including the most avant-garde, helping to build the global vision of art in the making. In the creative humanism of this event, we look forward to welcoming you among us, to keep the spirit of a great celebration of colour, and we hope that this Salon will be, in all respects, a great success for all of you. Pour la 6me anne conscutive le Studio Abba de Florence se retrouve sous la clbre verrire du Grand Palais, avec le groupe dartistes internationaux dOpenArtCode, et cela grce l'heureuse initiative, la bonne humeur et la gnrosit de cur lgendaires de Mary Brilli. Parfaitement intgr au Salon de la Socit des Artistes Indpendants, cest donc avec joie que nous recevons 22 artistes de ce groupe. Entre ce groupe international, remarquable par ses actions caritatives et la richesse de ses expressions picturales, nous remarquons avec grande satisfaction, sa fidlit la Socit des Artistes Indpendants. Cela exprime bien la communaut de notre idal: Dans l'art, la libert est la meilleure allie de la cration originale. Au fil des annes la morphologie de l'art prend de nouvelles teintes. Individuellement certes, mais davantage en groupe. Isabel Becker

Isabel Becker est ne et vit Rio de Janeiro. Elle a obtenu un diplme en communication visuelle en 1990 et a commenc tudier la photographie Oxford, en Angleterre. Deux ans plus tard, elle s'est impose comme photographe de mode et life style dans le journal brsilien O Globo, et a commenc prendre des photos pour les catalogues de mode et les magazines publis par Editora Abril. Sa premire exposition personnelle a eu lieu en 1995, avec d'amusantes images de villes europennes. En 2000, elle a cr puis dirig le projet dart Photo Gallery, qui prsentait le travail de clbres photographes de Rio de Janeiro et So Paulo. En explorant diffrents thmes, Isabel s'est immerge dans l'univers des pouses, des portraits de famille et des enfants. Le rsultat est un ensemble duvres qui sintressent la relation entre le photographe et son sujet, qu'il s'agisse d'une personne, d'un paysage ou d'un objet. Isabel Becker was born and lives in Rio de Janeiro. She received her degree in Visual Communications in 1990 and studied photography in Oxford, England. Two years later, she made her name as a fashion and lifestyle photographer in the Brazilian newspaper O Globo and started shooting pictures for fashion catalogues and magazines published by Editora Abril. In 1995, she held her first individual fine art exhibition that featured playful images of European cities. In 2000, she created and was the curator of the fine art project Photo Gallery, which displayed the work of renowned photographers from Rio de Janeiro and So Paulo. Exploring different themes, Isabel immersed herself in the world of brides, family portraits and children. Herv Bindefeld, n en 1965 Paris, fut un adolescent captiv par la photographie. Il avait alors dcid de sen loigner car la photographie reposant sur la prise de vue instantane ne lui permettait de jouer de transparences, surimpressions et autres distances prises avec le rel. Il deviendra mdecin et laissera mrir sa passion. Voil des annes, il reprend ses appareils reconsidrant toute lexpressivit dsormais offerte par les nouvelles technologies appliques la photographie. Sa fibre crative lamne raliser un travail de mises en scne photographiques partir de sculptures de rue sur le thme de lanimation, de la vie. Il devient "Hv", artiste photographe avec son criture propre et sa griffe minemment reconnaissable. Sa touche contemporaine sur des sculptures anciennes est la fois trs mouvante et trs surprenante. Suite au succs de plusieurs de ses expositions internationales, notamment Paris, Bruxelles, Florence, Miami, Hv est devenu lun des artistes permanents dune galerie Paris et dune autre New-York. En 2013, il a gagn le premier prix au Chianti Star Festival en Italie. Herv Bindefeld, born in 1965 in Paris, was already passionate about photography as an adolescent. However at that time he decided not to take it up as a professional career as he felt that photography was based on an instant shot and it was not possible to play with transparencies, overprints and other ways of moving away from reality. He subsequently became a doctor but it was years later, that he picked up his camera again, given the vast expressive possibilities that are now offered by todays technology when applied to photography. His creative streak inspired his photographic compositions that looked at street sculptures with the themes of animation and life. At that stage of his artistic career he took on the artistic name of Hv, a fine-art photographer with his own vocabulary and recognisable style. His contemporary take on antique sculptures is emotionally moving and certainly surprising. After the success of several exhibitions worldwide including Paris, Brussels, Florence, Miami, Hvs artistic photography is available permanently in a gallery in Paris as well as one in New York. In 2013, he won first prize at the Chianti Star Festival, Italy.

Emmanuel De Brito

Emmanuel de Brito est un photographe n Domont (France) en 1972. Il a obtenu son degr d'ingnieur civil l'Universit de Lyon et a ensuite tudi la chimie et la physique Paris. Il a travaill comme ingnieur du btiment et a dessin le thtre des Sablons Neuilly-sur-Seine, ville dans laquelle il vit actuellement ct de Paris. Il y a cinq ans, il sest dcouvert une passion pour la photographie et il est maintenant photographe free-lance. Il prend du plaisir redcouvrir des paysages urbains, travers son objectif et avec sa touche minimaliste. Beaucoup de ses photos sont prises dans des villes comme New York, Paris, Venise, montrant par exemple leurs lignes d'horizon et leurs graffiti. Un autre de ses sujets rcurrents est la nature qui entoure les hommes; le dtail est fondamental pour son art et travers ce dtail le spectateur voit ce qu'il ne voit plus d'habitude parce que dans la routine il n'y donne pas de valeur. De Brito a t expos en 2011 et 2012 en France et en Italie, et en 2013 il a gagn le deuxime prix au Chianti Star Festival en Italie. Emmanuel De Brito is a photographer born in Domont (France) in 1972. He graduated in Civil Engineering from Lyon University and subsequently studied chemistry and physics in Paris. He worked as a building engineer and designed the Sablons Theatre in Neuilly-sur-Seine, a suburb of Paris where he currently lives. Just over five years ago, De Brito became extremely passionate about photography and he now works as a freelance photographer. He takes great pleasure in rediscovering urban landscapes, through his lens with his minimalist touch. Many of Emmanuel De Brito's photos are taken in cities such New York, Paris, and Venice, showing for example, their skylines or graffiti walls. Another recurring subject is nature that surrounds human beings. Detail plays an important role in his photography and through this detail the viewer sees what he had become blind to as it had become part of daily routine and its value was no longer be appreciated. De Brito has participated in group exhibitions in 2011 and 2012 in France and Italy and in 2013 he won second prize at the Chianti Star Festival, Italy.

Loes de Haan est une artiste hollandaise clbre avec un curriculum long et impressionnant dans toutes sortes darts: peinture, techniques mixtes sur papier, peintures murales, conception graphique et scnographie. Ses uvres ont t prsentes dans des expositions internationales et ses pomes ont galement t publis. Elle sest aussi consacre aux personnes qui souffrent de toutes sortes d'abus. Pour cette raison, elle a choisi de passer deux ans sur un projet humanitaire pour terminer sa carrire de professeur darts plastiques dans un lyce. Le but de ce projet est d'expliquer la Dclaration universelle des droits de l'homme travers 5 toiles et 15 cartons. Ces supports ont dj t exposs en Espagne, en Italie et aux Pays-Bas et ils continueront voyager aussi longtemps que ncessaire pour venir en aide aux personnes abuses. Les ractions que ce projet d'art produit sont trs enrichissantes: aux Pays-Bas, des groupes dlves du secondaire ont discut les sujets et particip activement au projet. Loes souhaite que sa peinture touche le cur des gens partout dans le monde, parce que l'art est un langage universel qui na pas besoin de mots. Loes de Haan is a well-known Dutch artist with a long and respected curriculum in a variety of art techinques including painting, mixed media on paper, murals, graphic design and theatre design. She has had international exhibitions and her poetry has been published. She has also dedicated herself to people who suffer from abuse. For this reason, she chose to work on a two-year human rights project after she changed her profession from being a high school teacher of the arts. Through five of her canvases and fifteen works on board that have already been exhibited in Spain, Italy and the Netherlands, this project defends the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The artist hopes that the artworks can continue to be exhibited as long as they can help these abused sufferers. The reactions that this art project evokes are very rewarding for the artist, for example as a result of seeing her work, groups of high school students in The Netherlands have actively participated in this project. Loes wants her painting to reach the hearts of people everywhere, as she considers art as a universal language that speaks without words.

Christine Drummond est ne et a grandi au Brsil. Elle a suivi sa formation au lyce franais de Rio et se considre comme une vritable "carioca", c'est--dire comme une personne qui nat et grandit Rio de Janeiro. Une "carioca" profite de la vie, croit en son avenir, est optimiste et Christine transmet ces lments dans sa peinture. En 1999, elle dmnage aux tats-Unis o elle commence peindre, au pinceau mais sans texture. Les rsultats rvlent des uvres extrmement colores qui reprsentent son pays natal. En 2004, elle visite une exposition des travaux du professeur Ablade Glover. Cela l'aide dfinir son style et lui donner le sens de la libert. Avec ses traits de couteau audacieux, elle cre de la texture qui son tour cre des formes et des couleurs s'animant sur la toile. Aujourd'hui, le travail artistique de Christine Drummond est expos dans le monde entier dans des expositions collectives et personnelles, dont rcemment avec le groupe OpenArtCode au Salon des Artistes Indpendants au Grand Palais de Paris en 2010-2012 ou en solo la Galerie Butler Goode Sydney en Australie. Elle a gagn le prix du concours GemlucArt Monaco en 2011. Ce prix a consist en une exposition personnelle la Galerie Ribolzi Monaco en 2012, exposition qui a t couronne de succs. Christine Drummond was born and raised in Brazil. She received her formative education at the French Lyce in Rio and sees herself a true carioca, meaning a person born and raised in Rio de Janeiro. A carioca enjoys life, has faith in the future and is an optimist and she brings these characteristics into her paintings. In 1999, she moved to the US and started painting using brushes but with no texture, the results revealed extremely colourful artworks that always depicted her native country. In 2004, she saw a display of Professor Ablade Glovers work and this helped her to define her style and gave her a sense of freedom. With the bold strokes of her palette knife, she creates texture that in turn creates shapes and colours that become alive on her canvas. Today, Christine Drummonds artworks are shown worldwide in collective and personal exhibitions, most recently with OpenArtCode group in the Salon des Artistes Indpendants in the Grand Palais, Paris in 2010-2012, and the solo exhibition at the Butler Goode Gallery in Sydney, Australia. Christine won the Prix du Concours at GemlucArt, Monaco 2011 and the prize was a subsequent, extremely successful, solo exhibition held at Gallery Ribolzi in Monte Carlo in 2012.

Sharina Gumbs, galement connue sous le nom de Peepsqueek, est ne Aruba. Elle a migr aux Pays-Bas l'ge de sept ans et a grandi dans ce pays tranger o elle sest toujours sentie comme en visite, nattendant que de retourner chez elle. Son pre tait rest Aruba avec son pouse et sa famille et il se passera plus de 13 ans avant qu'elle ne le revoie. Grandir sans pre a fait d'elle une personne rflchie, une rveuse, en perptuelle exploration du sens de l'amour, de la famille, de l'identit et des relations. Incapable, parce quune enfant, d'exprimer ses motions en mots, elle a trouv une chappatoire dans le dessin et l'criture. Son objectif principal en tant qu'artiste est de voir et de montrer les gens tels qu'ils sont, avec son cur et sans les juger. Elle cherche un langage universel travers l'art, une langue qui est capable d'unir les personnes. Son intrt pour lhumain la conduite tudier les sciences du comportement et son mtier initial de travailleur social. Ce n'est qu lapproche de la quarantaine quelle sest autorise librer l'artiste qui tait en elle. En est rsult son travail abstrait qui est une rflexion trs dynamique et intuitive sur sa propre identit. Sharina Gumbs, also known as Peepsqueek, was born in Aruba. She emigrated to the Netherlands at the age of seven and grew up in what felt to her a foreign country where she felt like a visitor, and she always longed to return home. Her father had remained in Aruba with his wife and family and it would take thirteen more years before she saw him again. Growing up without a father made her into into a thinker and a wonderer and she has always explored the meaning of love, family, identity and relationships. Unable to express her emotions in spoken words as a child, she found an escape in drawing and writing. Her main purpose as an artist is to see and show people as they are, from the heart, without judging them. She searches for a universal language through art, a language which is able to unite people. Sharinas interest in the human character led to her study behavioural science and to her initial profession as a social worker. It was not until her early forties that she allowed herself to unleash the artist within and as a result, her abstract art is a very dynamic and intuitive reflection on her own being.

Celles quelle peint ne se vivent pas comme des victimes. Elles ne sont jamais rsignes et beaucoup sont mme en rsistance mentale active. Elle sattache simplifier leur reprsentation lextrme, par envie dallger la lecture de ses toiles et surtout dviter le registre du pathos et de lexplicatif tout en donnant voir ce qui lui semble tre essentiel. Membre du groupe dartistes internationaux OpenArtCode, Evelyne Huet vit Paris et expose rgulirement seule ou en groupe en France et ltranger (en Italie, Espagne, en Isral et en Chine). Elle est aussi lune des artistes de la Galerie Teodora Paris. Born in 1955 in Paris, Evelyne Huet is a mathematician by training. She has also studied anthropology. Strongly influenced by the cultures and arts of societies seen as primitive, her paintings have long sought to depict women and girls and in particular, the courage they display in the face of violent situations and extremely difficult living conditions many of them have to confront to varying degrees. The women she paints do not see themselves as victims and never resign themselves to their fate, on the contrary many actively challenge their circumstances from within. She endeavours to simplify her representations to the extreme to provide a lighter reading of her paintings and most importantly to avoid evoking pathos and having to explain her work, whilst aiming to show only what she believes to be essential. A member of the OpenArtCode group of international artists, Evelyne lives in Paris and her paintings are regularly displayed in solo and group shows in France and abroad (Italy, Spain, Israel and China). She is also one of the artists of the Galerie Teodora, Paris.

Sumio Inoue est n en 1948 Tokyo, au Japon. Il a tudi les techniques de la photographie lAcadmie du Design de Tokyo de 1968 1970 puis au Centre du Design du Japon de 1970 1974. Il a commenc sa carrire dans la photographie commerciale, avant de passer la photographie artistique en 1990. Sumio vit et travaille New York mais passe une partie de lanne Tokyo. Ces dernires annes, il a soigneusement dvelopp une srie appele Silenzioso: images imprimes sur du papier de riz fait-main, un procd qui prend plusieurs mois. Intrieurs dglise, monuments importants, villes et paysages urbains sont imprims avec une infinit de nuances et dombres monochromes trs intenses. Donner voir quelque chose l o il ny a rien voir, en dvoilant et en voquant des espaces inconnus avec un pathos antique destin stimuler l'imagination du spectateur, tels sont les objectifs essentiels du travail de Sumio. Il a prsent ses uvres Tokyo, New York, Londres, Paris, Deauville, Florence, Barcelone, en Grce et au Mexique. Il est membre du groupe OpenArtCode et a particip aux WorldArtVision Cancun et Barcelona. En 2007, Sumio a gagn le premier prix de la photographie la Biennale de Florence et il a remport le Prix du Jury au GemlucArt Monaco en 2009. Sumio Inoue was born in 1948 in Tokyo, Japan. He studied photographic techniques at Tokyo Design Academy from 1968 to 1970 and at the Japan Design Center from 1970 to 1974. He began his career working in commercial photography and in 1990 changed to artistic photography. He lives and works in New York but still spends part of the year in Tokyo. Inoue has spent the past years carefully developing a series called Silenzioso: images printed on handmade rice paper, a process that takes several months. Church interiors, important monuments, town and cityscapes are printed with intensified focus and in infinitely monochromatic shades and shadows. To see something where nothing can be seen, uncovering and evoking unknown spaces with an antique pathos and to provoke ones imagination, are the primary goals of Sumios art. He has had successful exhibitions in Tokyo, New York, London, Paris, Deauville, Florence, Barcelona, Greece and Mexico. He is a member of the OpenArtCode group and also participated in WorldArtVision Cancun and Barcelona. In 2007, Sumio won the first prize for Photography at the Florence Biennale and won the Prix du Jury at GemlucArt, Monaco 2009.

Imagery springs from anything that exists: communication, laughter, touch, tension, flight, landscape, the spaces between and things sacred." Maz Jackson lives and paints in Norfolk. Following the methods of the 15th century painter Cennino Cennini, she depicts her artistic vision in ground mineral pigments together with egg yolk and distilled water. The tempera is laid down on gessoed oak panels between forms in gold leaf and a work can often take up to two or three years to complete. Her award-winning art has been exhibited and collected in museums in Great Britain, Europe, USA, China, Japan and Mexico. L'artiste nerlandais Ren van der Bruggen, Oss 1951, a tudi l'Acadmie voor Beeldende Vorming Tilburg et la Kunstacademie Kampen. Sa technique et les matriaux et formats quil utilise sont plutt rares. Il se sert de fusains et pastels gras, mais n'utilise jamais la couleur comme les peintres le font. Chaque uvre a un caractre dfinitif et est le rsultat d'un processus intensif de constructions et destructions successives. The Dutch artist, Ren van der Bruggen, Oss, 1951, studied at the Academie voor Beeldende Vorming, Tilburg, and at the Kunstacademie in Kampen. As such, they became an independent and indispensable part of his work. After having worked several years as an architectural designer, when drawing played a predominantly supportive role for him, Ren started drawing again and in a short period of time he developed a very personal and authentic style. His technique, use of materials and formats are rather unusual. He uses oil sticks and oil pastels but never uses colour as painters generally do. Each work has a definitive character and is the result of an intensive process of building and scratching. This process remains the most important and the concept of every drawing manifests itself as the drawing evolves.
