The family wishes to thank each of you for your prayers, visits, donations, flowers, words of comfort, and

concern during the illness and the loss of our loved one. Knowing that our bereavement is shared by so many is a great comfort to us. Delphine would appreciate all that has been done to make her transition dignified as well as celebratory and representative of her own unique style and grace. It is with the deepest sense of appreciation and great love that we simply say, thank you.

If you are reading this, it means that I have moved on from this life and into a better place. These past 17 months would not have been possible without my having received a lung transplant. It has been a wonderful life and I have much to be thankful for. If it werent for a special individual who was willing to donate their organs, I would not have had these months to enjoy life and grow in a deeper and more meaningful relationship with the Lord. I encourage all of you to become organ donors. I cant express how grateful I am for being given more life from the selfless sacrifice of others. I look forward to you joining me. I implore you to embrace, accept and strengthen your faith, tell your family that you love them and make the difference in someones life. God bless you and yours. With deepest and sincerest affection, Del

The Lord said Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest (Matthew 11:28). Del heard these words and knew that it was time for her to take her final journey from this life. Delphine Vanessa Bennett (Del) was born on December 24, 1958 to James B. Redmon, Sr. and Mayme Davis Redmon in Washington, DC. Raised in Washington, DC, she graduated from Spingarn High School and later received training in Business, moving on to work in the public and private sector. Del was blessed with the birth of her eldest son, Antoine Gregory Redmon in 1978. She later met and married the love of her life, Ollie Bennett, Jr. in January of 1986. From this union they were blessed with a son, Ollie Wallace Bennett, III. Del accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. She was a member of Little Union Baptist Church in Dumfries, VA, where she served on various ministries until she started suffering serious health concerns with the rare and progressive Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) disease. She was diagnosed with LAM in July 2006 and became a lung transplant recipient Memorial Day weekend in 2012. Del, filled with the joy of life, enjoyed entertaining, music, dancing, attending church, singing in the choir, and had a passion for cooking. Most importantly, SHE LOVED HER FAMILY. Del was predeceased by both her parents and an older brother, Rotella. Del leaves to cherish her memory her former husband Ollie Wallace Bennett, Jr.; two sons: Antoine Gregory Redmon and Ollie Wallace Bennett, III; sister: Marvis Duru; brother: James B. Redmon, Jr. (Tiffany); and many wellloved brothers and sisters- in-law; aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and a very special and devoted friend Linda Harvey.
