Passenger airbag cover (airbag cover) has been changed. The retaining strap previously secured to the instrument panel has been replaced by two retaining straps. These retaining straps are now secured to a bracket (1). This bracket (1) is placed on two of the four retaining screws of the passenger airbag module and is thus positioned under the passenger airbag module. Once the passenger airbag module has been placed on the retaining screws, the bracket (1) is secured with the retaining screws to the passenger airbag module. Note: Illustration without passenger airbag module. The airbag cover is equipped with a retaining strap, which is secured to the instrument panel.

Procedure for replacing airbag cover. When cover is open, cut off retaining strap as near as possible to instrument panel. Fit new version of airbag cover, with two retaining straps and bracket.

Place two washers on each of the threaded pins (1) turned away from passengers.

Both these washers are needed to compensate the height offset (A) between passenger airbag module and support tube. The height offset (A) is calculated from the height of the bracket for the two retaining straps of the passenger airbag cover (airbag cover). 1 = Support tube 2 = Bracket for two retaining straps of airbag cover 3 = Passenger airbag module

Re-establish plug connection. Make sure plug is correctly locked by lug. Lock plug connection, refer also to 72 12 ... Unlocking/locking airbag plug connections.
