2013 Palm Beach Marathon and Run Fest Participant Instructions

Please find below important and detailed race information for the Waterfront 5K and 10K.

Packet Pick-Up
All participants must pick up their race packet at the on Friday between the hours of 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Please bring a photo ID to the expo to retrieve your race packet. You may pick-up on behalf of other participants. A copy of the participants photo ID is required.

Registration/ Publix Health & Fitness Expo


The Publix Health & Fitness Expo will showcase health, sport and fitness products and services. It is free and open to the public! Items You Will Receive at Packet Pick-Up


At packet pick-up, you will receive: your race bib with timing chip, race shirt. The Palm Beaches Marathon and Run Fest uses the Chrono Track B-Tag. The B-Tag is a lightweight, single-use timing device that stays attached to your bib during the race. All participants are strongly encouraged to complete the emergency contact information on the back of the race bib prior to race day. All participants will each receive a technical race shirt custom designed for the Palm Beaches Marathon and Run Fest. **Participants will only receive the shirt size they selected during registration. If you need to exchange your shirt size, you may do so on race day after the race has ended at the Results tent.

Race Start Time: 6:00 PM Race Start Line Location: N Flagler Drive at Banyan St Race Finish Line Location: N Flagler Drive at N Clematis St Course Map: 5K/ 10K *Note: 10K participants will complete 2 loops.

Parking Details
Parking will be available at the following locations. Standard rates apply (but most are free on Sunday!) Please visit http://wpb.org/parking/find-a-space/locations-rates/#a for details and to view a map of parking locations. Please arrive early to allow plenty of time to find parking and arrive at the Start Line on time. Support on the Course


The 5K and 10K will be fully supported with aid stations, police officers at intersections, course marshals to direct runners at turns and a network of EMS resources. Our Aid stations will have water, Gatorade, portable restrooms, and dozens of enthusiastic volunteers. Please keep in mind: All baggage is subject to search by event security. This applies to ALL participants as well as friends, family and spectators. All coaches, skateboards, skates, baby joggers, strollers, bikes and animals are prohibited on course. Runners wearing headphones must remain aware of race officials, traffic and other runners at all times. This will be strictly enforced. For the safety of yourself and the other runners, all those found not in compliance with any of the aforementioned will be removed from the race course.

Event Status System


An Event Status System will be displayed at each mile marker indicating the status of the race based on the current weather conditions. There will be a simple color-based warning system. GREEN FLAG: Proceed as normal. YELLOW FLAG: CAUTION - Slow down, use caution and drink plenty of water. RED FLAG: EXTREME CAUTION - Slow down, use extreme caution and drink plenty of water due to dangerous weather conditions. Timing of the event has stopped and no awards will be issued. BLACK FLAG: STOP - Seek shelter immediately in the event of a weather emergency. The race has been cancelled due to extreme conditions or course emergency such as lightning, tornado, or human disaster.

Race Finish
All participants must cross the finish line by 8:00 PM to be recorded as an official finisher (with time and place.) Early starts are not allowed. All participants must maintain a pace no slower than 16:00 per mile throughout the course. Support vehicles and equipment trucks will direct slower participants to the sidewalks and reopen streets.

Race Results
Location: World of Beer at the Waterfront Commons Park (located on the corner of Datura St. and S Flagler Drive) All race results will be distributed at the World of Beer from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Race results will also be updated regularly online throughout the evening. Each athlete will notice a QR code printed directly onto their race bib. Simply scan your QR code with your smart phone and you will be taken directly to your personalized results page! We will be awarding special 10th Anniversary medals to the top three Male/Female participants of each age group: (Under 10, 10-12, 12-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75+) We will also be recognizing the top 3 overall Male and Female for both the 5K and 10K, respectively, via our PA system.

We Now Have An App For Your Race Results!


This year we offer the ability to see your results after the race in a mobile application for Android and iPhone devices! The free application is called Bibs and can be downloaded from the Apple Store and/or Google Store. You can also view the course map and details and share your race results on Facebook, email, and text all within the Bibs app! If you are at the Palm Beaches Marathon and Run Fest as a friend or loved one, you can download the app as well!

Clock Time vs. Chip Time


Your clock time starts when the race begins and ends when you cross the finish line timing mat. Overall male and female winners of the Marathon and Half Marathon are determined by the fastest clock time. Your chip time begins when you cross the start line timing mat and ends when you cross the finish line timing mat. Age group awards are determined by the fastest chip time in each division.

Race Photos

MarathonFoto will be photographing you multiple times throughout the race course as well as before and after the race. Please make sure your bib number is centered and visible so they may quickly and properly identify you. Dont forget to smile !
