Sr. Project Manager Point of Sale and Financial Accountability Application US Postal Service
As Sr. Project Manager, delivered Point of Sale system to the U.S. Postal Service to replace their legacy system, employing the agile software development life-cycle to complete and deliver the POS application in 17 months. This POS system allows the customer to upgrade to newer technologies, realize substantial maintenance savings and position itself for mobile and other advanced initiatives. This application is being deployed to 17,000 post offices and over 70,000 POS terminals with yearly revenues thru the system of over $11 billion. This project required extensive customer facing skills and cross-team and cross-organizational coordination. Technologies used: .Net, Java, C#, C++, XML, SOAP Responsible for driving requirements, development, QA testing and customer delivery using the agile development life-cycle approach. System components include interfaces to outside web services and web applications, extracts to Enterprise Data Warehouse, and interfacing with POS scanners, printers, scales, and cash drawers. As first member of the Virginia Escher team, recruited and built a team of highly qualified, productive and dynamic IT professionals. Facilitated daily scrum meetings with Business Analysts, Developers and QA teams. Coordinated monthly Sprint Reviews for multi-department and cross-functional customer teams. Coordinated the Wave2 Ad Portal configuration, integration, training and deployment. This is a selfservice Web Content Management tool used to increase newspapers advertising revenue and customer offerings. Delivered a web-based self-service application to customers to increase company revenue, provide business unit cost savings and leverage centralized infrastructures. Deployed a SalesForce.com CRM solution to the business units by integrating with the advertising business systems, providing a foundation for the World Class Sales organization enterprise-wide initiative.
