PREFACE

International Conference on Communication Systems (ICCS-2013) was a premier event for
Researchers, Academicians and Industry Professionals organized at B K Birla Institute of
Engineering & Technology, Pilani in collaboration with IETE during October 18-20, 2013.

BKBIET, Pilani was founded by Shree Krishnarpana Charity Trust as its technical wing under the
Chairmanship of Syt. Basant Kumar Birla in the year 2007 in the core of educational city, Pilani.
BKBIET is an approved institute by AICTE and is affiliated to Rajasthan Technical University
(RTU), Kota. Institute is running various UG & PG courses and is committed to give quality
education to its students.

The objective of the Conference was to bring different research professionals from country and
abroad at a single platform to share their concepts, prototypes, research ideas and experiences in
recent trends of research in Communication Systems. In the Conference a series of pedagogical
talk was delivered by the eminent speakers from the country and abroad.

The response to the call for papers in ICCS-2013 was encouraging. About hundred and fifty
research papers were received across the world and about hundred were shortlisted by the
review committee for the oral presentation. The conference which started with opening new
avenues for the students to study abroad at its initial stage later covered a broad range of
Communication Systems, Microwave & Antennas, VLSI & Embedded, Image & Signal Processing,
Semiconductors & Material Sciences, Computer & Networks, Optical Communication, Power
Electronics and allied areas of Electronics and Communication Systems where the eminent
speakers across the globe (12 from France, 02 from Thailand, 01 from Belgium and 19 from
India) for enlightened the gathering by sharing their knowledge, ideas, experience and expertise.
The success of the conference can also be assessed on the terms of papers as about 75 papers
were presented along with the 500 registration for the participation. Adding another feather in
the cap of the conference, 43 papers are recomended for the publication in special issue of
International Journal of Electronics and Communication Engineering & Technology (IJECET).

We heartily thank to all the eminent speakers for accepting our request and delivering a
motivational and innovative talk in the occasion. We are thankful to all the authors and
participants for responding to our call and also to the reviewers for their excellent work and the
quality of the reviews provided by them. We are heavily thankful to the various working
committees who had been a constant help to us throughout the conference. At the same time
organizing committee is also very thankful to the sponsors for their financial supports to the
event.

am very pleased to learn that B.K. Birla nstitute of Engineering & Technology,
Pilani is organizing the nternational Conference on Communication Systems (CCS-
2013) during October 18-20, 2013. Communication systems have so rapidly evolved
during the last two decades: from the wired telephony of two decades ago, the modern
mobile networks offering 2G, 3G and 4G services with high speeds have been one
giant leap taken in a short span of time. The internet was revolutionary enough, but the
mobile internet and onset of the era of internet of things where smart devices
independently coordinate among themselves to make the world smart is a huge new
dimension that the technology has enabled. Wireless sensor networks, body area
networks, smart fabrics, satellite based navigations systems - the possibilities are
unending. Microelectronics revolution and massive rolling out of the communication
back-bone infrastructure have contributed to the ongoing communication revolution
which is unfolding every day. ts impact on human life cannot even be really foreseen.
t is thus extremely topical for BKBET to plan and hold the CCS-2013 at Pilani
which has been a foremost centre of education and research in technology in general
and electronics in particular. congratulate the organizers and wish the participants a
very stimulating conference.

amdelighted to note that BKBirla nstitute of Engineering andTechnology is organizing an
nternational Conference on Communication Systems (CCS-2013) during Oct. 18 to Oct.
20 this year.
BKBET in a short span of five years has not only shown its potential in the form of a strong
academic environment with the help of class-room teaching, lab projects, international
students exchange programmes, seminars and workshops etc which equip students to
face the challenges in the field of latest technological development but has also produced
shining alumni well placed in the country and abroad.
t's a matter of great satisfaction to me personally for being associated with this nstitute
right from the inception. The efforts taken by the Director, Dr. PS Bhatnagar along with the
faculty members are taking the nstitute to newheights everyday.
This all would have not been possible without the blessings of our Chairman Syt. BKBirla Ji
and Dr. (Smt) Sarala Ji Birla who are always so keen to see the nstitute rise and shine like a
bright star in the field of technical education in the country.
My congratulations and best wishes to the organizers and also to all staff and students of
the nstitute.
