About Truelift Truelift is creating a trust mark in microfinance and other forms of social business to signify commitment to positive and enduring change for people living in conditions of poverty. Together, we are putting clients living in poverty back at the heart of the microfinance movement. Truelift is administratively housed at the Microcredit Summit Campaign (a project of RESULTS Educational Fund) in Washington, DC. Truelift seeks a highly motivated individual with a can-do attitude willing to do a variety of tasks to support the marketing of the initiative, including research, blogging and social media. The intern will support the Executive Director, and work with the Senior Program Associate (based in Chicago). The right candidate has extensive research experience and a fanatical passion for data and high-quality writing. The intern will substantially grow Truelifts base of resources on poverty-focused microfinance. In exchange for your hard work, youll have the unique opportunity to build a portfolio of work for a global industry initiative. Through this internship, you will gain in-depth knowledge of whats working in poverty alleviation. Truelift is made up of a small but dynamic team of individuals passionate about microfinance and building a community of practice to promote effective poverty outreach and develop services that create positive and lasting change for people living in poverty. Help us establish this initiative while connecting with top leaders in the microfinance industry. Job Logistics The intern will work together with staff 25-50% of each week on a flexible schedule basis. The intern and staff will determine the schedule of weekly working hours in advance. The intern will remain in contact with staff during their remote working hours via Skype/Google Hangouts. Job Responsibilities Develop case studies in collaboration with Truelift-recognized MFIs and microfinance industry leaders Follow leads on current academic research and industry initiatives on impact monitoring and evaluation, poverty outreach, and other effective pro-poor practices. Research and develop profiles on potential funder and investment collaborations in povertyfocused microfinance Ad hoc research, writing and marketing projects as determined by the strengths and interest of the selected candidate Skills / Qualifications / Experience Undergraduate junior or senior, or graduate student Outstanding writing ability Excellent research skills and ability to communicate findings to a broad audience Professional fluency in spoken and written English; proficiency in multiple languages a plus (Spanish, French, Arabic, Russian)
