Annotation: Oh Surya Bhagavan please be provider of happiness to us to our day ,to our activity , to the falloff snow, cold and to the extent of your light and other features of compassion. Please provide safety in our pathways and bestow us surprising wealth and gifts, Oh surya! Kindly bestow us happiness on our two births, the animal and human. This mantra is the 47 thand 48th of the set ofmantras of the Saurasukta which is recited for health and prosperity. The sukta has the viniyoga in multiples and wields sure influence for medicinal advantages and for spirituality. Daily repetition of this mantra provides peace and happiness. The anugraha of suryabhagavan is immeasurable. This is also employed as prayer to Santi attainment.

This is a powerful santimantra. By adding svaha at the end it could turn into a yajus employed at the saurasukta homa. There is vidhana for this. Wholly there are 64 offerings (ahutis) with these mantras and naturally the sun god gets pleased and sanctions the needs of the devotee. It is an aid for healing and health balancing and for diagnosis of impending problems. It is said:arogyam bhaskaradicchet and sriyam icchet hutasanat. Hustasana (Agni) and the surya are the same and so Aditya shall give us srih(wealth) and arogya (free from ailments)which would be base for any activity and serenity in our life enterprises. May everyone recite this and get happy and peace in their endeavours Kumar Yaskaacarya, the famous Etymologist said anyone who knows meaning of the mantras would obtain everything (arthajna it sakalam bhadramasnute). In case, he does not know the meaning or have no desire to know the meaning of the mantras he would be just like a Pillar

bearing the weight of the load(sthanurayaka bhara harah y adhitya vedam na janati artham). Saura sukta is found in the RV(X.170). It is a powerful educative and instructive flower bunch of 64 mantras revealed to the sage by SuryaBhagavan himself. We have many subhashitas in this sukta which would be enlisted separately. We make prayer to the Lord Suryathat he should help us all to keep our body free from attack of ill health and infections. In Yajurveda, we have Arunaprasna, the first chapter of the Taittiriya Aranyaka which is a great source to know all about the Sun and his eminence. He is regarded as the Arunaketuka

Agni. There are 148 passages. That text with translation and notes in English is published by our Vedaashyayna Kendra prepared by Dr. C.L. Prabhakar, for the convenience of the Veda students. Now That text also is under study, recitation and practice in the Veda classes at morning every day. The book is available for owning in the Kendra. It is hoped to conclude the course by performing the Aruna homa and the saura sukta homa this month, the third Sunday of April 2013.In the evening, Srisukta is being taught and explained besides other short suktas like svastino mimitam,Ayushyasukta, Vastu sukta and more..

SEMINAR ON THE ARCHITECTURE AND CONSTITUENTS OF DEVATAPUJA Lalitamma Culture of Devatarcana in our Human Tradition is familiar to all. But it is necessary to know about the Architecture and the Constituents of the system also. That is how the puja is structured and the accessories that fill up the build to please the deities. There is science and significance behind the doing, besides a good deal of sense and sensibility. Devata is defined in many ways. Yajurveda offers that any object regarded with honour is a deity( ya vai stuyate sa vai devata). Satapatha Brahmana says Devatas are guests for men who voluntarily visit all at first (Devah prathakmo atithih manusyanam). Puja is a needed process to get rid of the sins and turn pure to be able to get into the portals of deities. So we say at sankalpa definition as mama upatta samsta durita kshaya dvara, meaning through the gateway that opens after ones bad conduct is outwitted, the scope to paramaevara priti occurs and all good shall result .The letter Pa stands to mean fall and ja means the birth. Puja, therefore, is a measure to get rid of the janmapapa and attain nirvanasukha.

IMPORTANCE OF GHEE LAMP IN POOJA Dhananjaya Jog, Ag scientist

Sajyam trivartisamyuktam vahnina yojitam maya Gruhana mangalam dipam tryailokyam timirapah! Bhaktya dipam prayacchami devaya paramatamane Trahi mam narakat ghorat divya jyotir namostute!!

The magic of this mantra is: ordinary vahni (fire) becomes divyajyoti(divine Light) when it is offered to the deity and more so to the looks of the deity. It becomes capable to protect the bhakti from the terrific hell. The drusti of gods eyes fall on the lamp. And when that touches you the whole body becomes beaming with health and luster. We become jyotirupas after the experiencing (sevana). It is like prayer to the goddess durga who is present, in all, in the form of jyoti meaning everybody is of jyoti svarupa. when saktijyoti conjoins, there is enhancement of divyatava n the individual who is devoted. That is all the wonder the ghee lamp works, lit with three wicks dipped deep in the ghee. This is one method of making the ghee from our side to reach the devis and devatas who are the custodians of the maintenance of the world and social orders. The care to remove suffering and enhance punya. Like wise the water before abhisheka to deities is just water and after the rite it turns into tirtha of immeasurable value. Agni Puran clearly states that only oil or Ghee (clarified butter) be used in the lamp meant

YajurVeda for puja and no other combustible substance. According to the Science of spirituality the lamp with clarified butter is more sattvik (spiritually pure) as compared to lamp in which oil is used. This is an important aspect which we will try to understand in details. So let us see the difference between the lamp in which Ghee is used and the one with oil. Generally the use of oil is more prevalent than that of Ghee. The oil containing lamp kindles longer while the ghee containing lamp kindles for a short period. Now let us see the difference from the spiritual view point.
* Ghee lamp has more capacity to attract the sattvik vibrations present in the surrounding atmosphere as compared to oil lamp. The oil lamp can attract the sattvik vibrations spread over a maximum distance of 1 meter while the ghee lamp can attract sattvik vibrations spread over till Swarga Lok (heaven) When the oil lamp stops burning the predominance of raja particles in the atmosphere is enhanced and lasts for half an hour. On the other hand when the ghee lamp stops burning the impact of sattvikta (the quality of being sattvik) on the atmosphere is experienced even after four hours. So pursue the tradition of offering ghee lamp to the deities. Ghee is the most precious item. Veda says ghrutam vai hiranyam and this statement implies all significance.
