We currently have an opening for an IT/Systems Analyst to join our Information Technology organization, the Business Service Center (BSC), located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. As an integral part of this highly skilled, innovative team, you will play a significant role in providing services to U. S. Steels headquarters and international production operations. We are seeking a RECENT GRADUATE OR ENTRY-LEVEL CANDIDATE who is an inquisitive self-starter, able to apply solid technical skills and a strong desire to learn and help resolve a broad range of server-based software support issues. To guide your success, you will be equipped with relevant mentoring and training to become proficient in this role. The IT/Systems Analyst supports and operates the systems, processes, and technology surrounding our Inventory and Outside Processing Systems; including providing on-going maintenance, troubleshooting, and user management. Responsibilities Include: Establish and maintain effective relationships with both internal business customers and IT staff. Business customers may include Accounting, Processed Products, Business Planning and/or Procurement. Process help desk tickets for internal customer requests and provide solutions. Monitor systems and perform initial troubleshooting for various issues related to Inventory, Costing and Shipping. Resolve problems or communicate issues to advanced support. Assist in issue resolution and follow-up. Assist the business in the creation of Purchase Orders (PO), Approved Supplier lists and other PO

questions. Identify, analyze and implement process improvement opportunities. Required Skills and Experience: Knowledge and understanding of the software development life cycle. Experience building test cases for various business scenarios with changes to IT applications. Ability to write SQL statements. The ability to effectively communicate with a very diverse customer base in both written and verbal form. The candidate may be required to provide occasional off-hour support for special projects or other needs. Preferred Skills and Experience: Experience working within an ERP system. Oracle database experience and experience with Oracle e-Business Suite of products. The main activities of the company according to the web page are The Company manufactures a wide range of value-added steel sheet and tubular products for the automotive, appliance, container, industrial machinery, construction, and oil and gas industries.(1) And that makes the company important to the U.S in terms of productivity considering that the plants that produce those articles are mainly in the U.S and a few in Canada, Mexico, and Brazil. The company focus on saying the Phrase Do what is Right and that means that no matter what happen, acting according to the values mentioned would be what is right. History The company has a large history according to the text found in the webpage When founded in 1901, United States Steel Corporation was the largest business enterprise ever launched, with an authorized capitalization of $1.4 billion.(2) Making the history of the company to be very long. One of the most significant moments of the company was in 1980 when according to the company the corporation

entered into several steel joint ventures with both domestic and foreign partners.(2) Opening the doors to different countries like Canada and Mexico, but still with no factories in those countries, it was until 2007 when U.S Steel opened his plant on Canada naming it U.S. Steel Canada. Audience The resume and cover letter are focused to the human resources department of a company specialized in steel products, but with a long history and a huge IT department. The job posting is asking for entry level applicants which make the experience practically less important than education. But even when experience is not as important as education, the more experience the better. I think that by putting some experience of previous jobs related to the IT would be attractive for the employers.
