Real Estate Salesman Course a) To be at least 18 years of age at the date of entry to the course To possess Caribbean Examination Council Certificate (C.X.C.) General Proficiency, Grades 1, 2, and (3 since 1998) in four (4) subjects including English Language and Mathematics. OR General Certificate of Education (G.C.E.) in four (4) O level subjects including English Language and Mathematics, minimum Grade C. c) Possess such other qualifications that are deemed equivalent and appropriate.

The programme seeks to promote and maintain a high standard of professional conduct and professional work ethic among persons engaged in real estate. It is aimed at persons who wish to be licensed as Real Estate Salesman under the provisions of the Real Estate (Dealers and Developers) Act, in the branches of Sales and Rentals/Leases. Duration: 4 Weeks (Full-time)

The deadline for all applications is as shown below: April Course - deadline is January 31 July Course - deadline is April 30 November Course - deadline is August 31 Where any of the above dates fall on the weekend the Last Friday of the month would obtain. 5. Q). A). How does one qualify for entry to the programme? The requirements are as follows: i. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age at the date of entry to the course ii. Possess four (4) CXCs including English and Mathematics at General Proficiency Grades I or II. A Grade III since 1998 is also acceptable. iii. General Certificate of Education (G.C.E.) O Levels including English and Mathematics iv. Applicants who fulfill the entry requirements are required to attend and satisfy a final selection interview. 6. Q). A). What is the process of registration for the RESC? The successful applicant is required to be registered by the stated deadline. Proof of payment (receipt) and a recent passport size photograph are required to complete the registration process. How are course participants assessed? Course participants are required to sit an exam at the end of the programme. The exam consists of 100 multiple-choice type questions. Participants will be required to attain a minimum standard of 70%. Results are published two weeks later.

Can successful applicants defer from one session to another? Yes. Successful applicants may elect to take up the offer to the programme at a later date. All requests for deferral, however, should be in writing and submitted before the deadline for registration. An approval for deferral is valid for no more than one calendar year. What is the maximum time for completion after starting the programme? All participants are required to complete the programme in a two-year period. Who has the authority to register, licence the real estate salesman? The Real Estate Board is the body which registers and licenses successful participants of the RESC. Additionally, the successful applicant is given a University of Technology, Jamaica certificate of completion. Having successfully completed the RESC what is the next step? Once the results have been published a copy of the pass list is submitted to the Real Estate Board within three (3)working days. Successful participants should proceed to contact the Real Estate Board for further details on the procedure for registration and licensing. Who is a real estate salesman? An individual who engages in the practice of real estate business, in whole or part, as an agent of or subject to the direction, control or management of a real estate dealer. (Real Estate Dealers and Developers Act, 1987) When can a real estate salesman become a real estate dealer? After practicing for two years with a licensed real estate dealer, the real estate salesman may apply to pursue the Real Estate Dealers Course at the University of Technology, Jamaica. The Course is offered on a part-time basis in 160 hours over a six-month period.

1. Q) A). How often is the Real Estate Salesman Course (RESC) offered? The RESC is offered three times annually, namely, April, July and November. What is the duration of each Course?
