Lesson Plan Regional Standard: Examine the nature of self, family, and community in order to build strong healthy

relationships.

Theme: Social, Emotional And Spiritual Well Being Topic: Self-awareness Learner outcome: Demonstrate awareness of self by identifying personal characteristics.

Age level: 11 12 years.

Time: 40 minutes

Purpose: To help students recognize their personal characteristics and exhibit their personal characteristics comfortably.

Overview: of the lesson

Specific Objectives:

1. Explain the term personal characteristics.

2. List their personal characteristics.

3. Demonstrate ways to develop/improve personal characteristics.

Resources:

2. Graphic organizer:

Strategies/Methods: Class discussion, Sub Skills: Presentation: Step one: Listen to and talk about a funny quotation about personal characteristics. Share personal experiences that are related to about the presentation. (5 minutes)

Development: Step 1: Students will read the definitions of the term personal characteristics in their dictionaries and those presented by teacher on a white board, to create the own definition of the term.

Step 2: Teacher will create a restaurant setting of a Pizza Shack. The students will complete the graphic organizer of a pie of 8 their personal characteristics. Students will be given a graphic organizer in the form of a pie and will write the ingredient (characteristics that make themselves). Students (name will be written on the backs) information will be placed on a menu of a restaurant

settings.

Step 3: Students should be able to observe and discuss each others personality (each others pie) and will make suggestions about the different ways to improve on the characteristics so that customers would be encouraged to patronize the restaurant.

Evaluation: Students will consider the suggestion made of their (pie) personality and advertise (creation of a poster) state how the improvements of their personal characteristics

Personal reflection about how their creations - improvements can help would encourage helping others and themselves to become a holistic person.
