Singhal, Kalyan, Opportunities for developing the science of operations and supplychain management. Journal of Operations Management 30.3 (2012) : pg245-252 medium.

This Article talked about specifically the opportunities of supply chain management along with the development of the science of operations. This article is divided in two six main phases: the phase of pursue, exploratory and quality research, intense research, examining outlier, meta-analysis, and concluding phase. After reading this article, I learned a lot about supply chain management, and not only did I learned that, but I also saw the connection between management and science, two every different subjects. I also realized how management can actually be useful in any are of career.

2. The Author uses the John Swales CARS model well. As of first move, its the author establishing a territory, following the steps of claiming centrality, making topic generalization, and reviewing items of previous researches. In this article, the author identified a previous research with the O&SCM, and this followed the CARS models move one. These opportunities

and the approaches are relevant not just to the science of O&SCM, but to all management sciences, and indeed to all social sciences.

Move two is establishing a niche, the steps are counter claiming, indicating a gap, question raising, and continuing a tradition. The author questioned the previous research, and this followed the move two of the CARS model. Womack et al.s work (1991) on Toyota came from industry studies, and it had a major impact on practice and academic research in O&SCM.

The author did not show any obvious further research ideas, or anything close to that. Author tried to finish the journal with the current research and ideas.

3.

The research method for science of operation is mainly mathematical models, along with some quality researches. In some management science cases, qualitative relationships, besides leading to promising new areas of research, can be the culmination of research and some of them have a tremendous impact. However, with only an individual or a small team to do an article research, it is almost impossible to make a contribution to cover the topic of science research, thats why a large quantity of research Is needed to complete such science operations. The Examining outliers are actually divided into: radical innovation, risk management, and industries with unusual characteristics. With all these starting methods, this is how they start doing science operations and form the supply chain of management.

4.

The tone of this article is every general, although it does have some bias one the research of science operations. The writing style and format of this article is more like one introduction,

and then it splits into different parts like a bullet point. And each bullet goes into details, and it finally all comes into one main idea in the end. This person writes it as he in part of this discourse community, because he does have knowledge of the topic. And from it we can definitely see some bias opinion, and therefore we can only take the general results of what research gave us, but not his comments.

5.

The thesis of this article is to show the connection between science and management. The author tried to use research results to show the links between them, and how they need each other. However, when he was using previous research from other people, he disapproves some of their ideas, and used his own. And with his research and main points, he was successful at convincing the importance of management, not only in science, but in all areas in the society.

Throughout this article, the author is really good at supporting his idea, and with the six main factors, it even gave more detail of how management takes a chain thought from the start, to its outcome. The science operation seems really well supported, with all the possible methods he used, and all the explanation he stated, and the hinted connection between science and management. Supply chain is a hard topic or subject to research on, and this author did the research with an addition of the connection with science, which requires a large amount of research and time. From this journal, I learned about new methods, new names, and some previous well known research projects, that were related to science. This journal not only taught me about my major, but also taught me a lot from the field of science. With so much analyze that the author did, I was very well convinced of his idea that everything needs management, and supply chain is one of the most important area of management, that every company needs.
