Magnificat Prayer Breakfast-There will be a
Magnificat Prayer Breakfast on Saturday,
August 29, at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish
Hall; it will be from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
Our speaker will be Virginia Springer from
Resurrection Catholic Church in Clanton,
Alabama, who will share with us how in the
storms of her life she became God’s
“runaway bunny” until a special event
happened that changed everything. No

The Birmingham Cursillo Community
will be having our August ULTREYA on
Tuesday, August 25, at 6:30 p.m. at Our Lady
of Sorrows Church Parish Hall. All Cursillistas

Birmingham, AL. My Mom and I stayed there
in 2005-2006. We now live happily in a
house in Hull, Georgia. I am now in 9th grade

OLS School Fundraiser-The OLS School
PTO is currently sponsoring two school
fundraisers. The students are selling the
“Enjoy the City” coupon books, featuring
more than $1500.00 in valuable coupons and
offers. The books are $20.00 per book with
the proceeds going to the OLS School
Library. Anyone interested in purchasing a
book can do so in the school office. The
annual gift wrap sale is also underway with
proceeds from this sale going towards
technology upgrades throughout the school.

Relish the Gift of Your Femininity
Saint Rose Academy announces, “Relish the
Gift of your Femininity,” a Women’s Retreat
to be held at Saint Paul’s Cathedral Life
Center on Friday evening, August 28 from
5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and on Saturday, August 29
from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.. There will be
two retreat speakers, Sister Jane Dominic,
O.P., a Dominican Sister of Saint Cecilia
Congregation, and Jeanette DeMelo , the
Director of Communications for the
Archdiocese of Denver and a member of the
Board of Directors for ENDOW (Educating on
the Nature and Dignity of Women; Please
see www.EndowOnline.com). These two
women will enlighten and challenge retreat
participants to discover the true beauty and
strength of femininity. There will also be
opportunities for prayer through Exposition
and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament,
Confession, and the Holy Sacrifice of the
Mass.
The Benedictine Sisters Retreat Center in
Cullman and Contemplative Outreach,
Birmingham are sponsoring an Introduction
to Centering Prayer retreat to be held in
Cullman September 4-6. This retreat is
designed for those new to Centering Prayer,
a form of Christian prayer rooted in the
ancient Christian contemplative tradition. Its
purpose is to foster a deeper intimacy with
Christ through the silence and stillness of
contemplative prayer. Private rooms and the
ability to maintain silence are required.
Registration will be from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. on
Friday, September 4, and the program will
end after the noon meal on Sunday. The
cost for the weekend is $195/person for a
private room and includes lodging, meals,
