I(' doing Social sciences, the three year &rogra''e, I chose not to enroll on the &lace'ent year due to it being un&aid, and so I(d ha"e to get a &art<ti'e -ob to #und the &lace'ent, when I could -ust go straight into a -ob. Sociology is 'y 'ost knowledgable sub-ect area, but I(' really interested in &olitics, and so I a&&lied to !ni"ersities with a di"erse range o# sub-ects, it wasn(t so 'uch about career &aths, but 'ore o# what I(' actually interested in. What ad"antages or disad"antages do you #eel doing your course in $ath gi"es to your e'&loyability? $ath has risen in recent years to beco'e within the to& 11 ranking uni"ersities in the country. And to& = in the world. I truly reali:ed how 'uch bath bene#itted 'y e'&loyability on the career e"ent days here. I could really tell that e'&loyers want $ath uni"ersity students. +he de&art'ents o# social sciences are also "ery strong and #ocused on the &ractical side o# whether social sciences actually a##ect &olicy. id $aths re&utation #or e'&loyability a##ect your choice? And how? It was 'ore the course that &ulled 'e in, and a#ter not #inding 'uch in#or'ation regarding social sciences courses on 'any uni"ersity websites, $ath &ro"ided an a&&ealing course structure. Which was well &ortrayed on their website. I also a&&lied to 9abridge, ,S5, Warrick and York, which all ha"e great re&utations o# e'&loyability in the #irst > 'onths. And so it did not a##ect 'y choice. Why do you #eel you 'ight need a co'&etiti"e ad"antage in conte'&orary society? A degree in social science is so'ething our society "alues. .owe"er with a degree In social science, you really need to stand out with other e0&erience as well, and be able to ha"e ac6uired and be able to de'onstrate good skills. Social science is considered 6uite a so#t degree, and allows you to see the world in a 'ore technical way. I really want to change the world. $ut to do this, one needs a co'&etiti"e edge in society, ha"ing a degree #ro' $ath on your 9? would i'&ro"e this. We need this co'&etiti"e edge to 'atch the e0&ectations o# labour 'arket re6uire'ents, as there are li'ited -obs out there. +o you, what is e'&loyability?

I wouldn%t really say that the e'&loaybility rates were the 'ain reason. $asically, 'y choice was either $ristol or $ath, and while the ranking o# the Social Sciences e&art'ent was al'ost e6ual, I &re#erred $ath%s eni"ron'ent. +he green, you know. ). What ad"antages and*or disad"antages do you think doing your course in $ath gi"es you in e'&loyability? I really think that you can%t s&eak o# any disad"antages. $ath is a high<ranking uni"ersity, and e"ery e'&loyer knows how high le"el o# education the uni"ersity &ro"ides. I would say that you are in ad"atage -ust because you study in $ath co'&ared to other uni"ersities. 3. Why do you #eel you 'ight need a co'&etiti"e edge in ter's o# e'&loyability in today%s society? Nowadays the -ob 'arket is really #ull. Bost &eo&le #inished uni"ersity, got great 6uali#ications -ust because o# that. $ath o##ers great o&&ortunities to "olunteer, and with 'y ga& year I can get really "aluable e0&erience, which 'ay 'ake the di##erence when it co'es to being e'&loyed or not. 4. +o you, what is e'&loyability? 7or 'e, it is the skills you ha"e. It is not about your education, it has to do with your co''unication and tea'work skills, your ability to ada&t to and sol"e situations, your 'oti"ation.
