the Canadian Aid programme. It was made ofcial when the Canadian High Commissioner ew in from Tanzania to open it. At the same time she was able to see the borehole and the tower with reservoir, which was also funded under the same programme. Both the quality of the nish of the toilets and the borehole system impressed the High Commissioner greatly. It was unfortunate that Canadian aid is being withdrawn from Zambia and ours was the last project to be funded by them

A NEW FARM MANAGER

After a few years in maintenance mode at the farm, we have nally got a manager whom we felt will make the most of the land we have available. He was highly recommended by a similar organization to Isubilo which unfortunately had to close

This has been made possible by a donation link to the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) website which can take on-line donations to all major credit and debit cards and set up on-line direct debits. CARROTS For the rst time our farm team tried growing carrots as a cash crop with great success. It looks like more carrots will be grown as well as tomatoes, okra, cabbage and spinach for the market ladies to come and buy. As well as training clients in horticulture, we are keen for the farm to be as self sustaining as possible by producing cash crops THE MILL/MAIZE As many of you know, the mill is being a great help in keeping Isubilo aoat by milling for our own use as well as selling mealiemeal under our own brand. This requires a large stock of Maize which we normally nd very difcult to raise. This year we had

A young man of 32 years came to the clinic with a swollen leg having been to University Teaching Hospital Lusaka, where he spent 3 months being treated by applying plaster of Paris with no improvement. He later came to Ndola Central Hospital where he was cared for with no improvement. He was advised to undergo an amputation of the affected leg. He refused and decided to come to Isubilo for help.

Lilian

TOUGH TIMES Lilian, who, with her team, so ably looks after AIDS patients who have just been put on medication, has recently lost her two day old baby. We all grieve with her as she recovers after a difficult birth. She has great skills in holding her team of volunteer carers together and creating a safe and caring environment going through initial of for the patients trauma

On investigation, the leg was found to be heavily infected with several sinuses oozing puss. The whole left leg was rotting. The treatment started with cleaning with iodine, soaking and packing also applied supplemented with oral antibiotics. Thanks to the persistence of Mr Lambakasa, who has gained quite a reputation for this kind of treatment, healing gradually took place with complete healing in one and a half months. This young man was grateful to have kept his leg with honey. Antibiotic powder was
