PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
LOCTTE

5251 provides the following product

characteristics:
TechnoIogy Acrylic
Chemical Type Aromatic urethane acrylate
Appearance (uncured) Clear to slightly hazy viscous paste
LMS
Components One component - requires no mixing
Viscosity Thixotropic
Cure Ultraviolet (UV) light
AppIication Sealing or Gasketing
LOCTTE

5251 cures 100% when exposed to ultraviolet

light and forms an elastomeric cure-in-place gasket. t is
designed for automotive OEM, sub-component and industrial
applications where a pre-applied and reusable acrylic
rubber gasket is desired. Typical applications
include water/dust sealing or BSR (buzz, squeak, rattle) and
wind noise reduction on automotive exterior applications. The
thixotropic nature of LOCTTE

5251 reduces the migration

of liquid product after application to the substrate.

GENERAL INFORMATION
This product is not recommended for use in pure oxygen
and/or oxygen rich systems and shouId not be seIected as
a seaIant for chIorine or other strong oxidizing materiaIs.
For safe handIing information on this product, consuIt the
MateriaI Safety Data Sheet (MSDS).
Where aqueous washing systems are used to clean the
surfaces before bonding, it is important to check for
compatibility of the washing solution with the adhesive. n
some cases these aqueous washes can affect the cure and
performance of the adhesive.
Directions for use
1. n contrast to liquid flange sealants, this elastomeric
pre-applied gasket provides an effective seal by
compression only. Therefore, it is necessary to follow
recommended Loctite guidelines for bead size relative to
the flange design to accomodate the compression set
characteristics in specified operating environments.
2. The rheology of this product is designed to maintain the
profile of a robotically applied bead. Product should be
applied to a clean and dry surface and quickly exposed to
UV light for the appropriate time.
Loctite MateriaI Specification
