DOB: 01/03/1991 Personal Profile: Having just completed a BSc (Hons) Agriculture with Animal science, I am ready to further my knowledge and experience within the industry. Although not from a farming background, my ability to learn quickly and work hard have seen me achieve Student of the Year at both National Certificate and Higher National Certificate level, at Oatridge College. With no break from education, I have secured a range of summer agricultural jobs over the years, and have proven to excel in all areas with my main interest lying with Livestock. I enjoy working as a team to achieve given targets, also work very well alone. Highest standards of health, welfare and hygiene are important to me. Im very respectful and have very good management skills. My quiet, calm and patient attitude to livestock is essential for safety and animal wellbeing. I am also a very keen horse woman, specializing in dressage. I have been selected to represent the Scottish BYRDS on several occasions. Work Experience
General Farm Worker/ Relief Milker June September 2012, Roadhead Farm, South Lanarkshire This full time summer job was part of an agricultural degree module. It involved the milking of approximately 365 Holstein Friesian, brown Swiss cows 3x per day in a 30 point swing over. Assisting rearing youngstock, from new born calves to young bulls (11-13 months) and heifers. Driving a wide range of machinery and feeding cattle were among the daily duties, as was power washing to maintain a high standard of hygiene. ----------------------------------------------------------February April 2012, Pencraig Farm, Wales Shepherdess (Lambing) This was a lambing placement found through the University where 10 candidates including myself were recommended; I received the job and made such an impression that I was booked for the forthcoming year (2013). This job entailed caring for 600+ Texel, Suffolk, Mule and Welsh cross ewes, lambing indoors in two separate groups in different sheds on the farm, assisting the ewes with any lambing difficulties, dealing with any problems which occurred around the farm and working very closely with the farm staff. Duties included feeding, bedding,

watering ewes and lambs, tubing and suckling weak lambs, twinning on, marking, castrating lambs, turning ewes and lambs out, preventing miss mothering and assisting with the twice daily field inspections and feeding outdoor ewes and lambs. Skills gained New, simple methods of dealing with day to day tasks or problems which arose while working closely with experienced shepherds, working quietly and independently when there were hectic days.

----------------------------------------------June Sept 2011 Easter Town Farm, Lanarkshire Relief Milker This summer job consisted of the milking of 60 Holstein cows in a herringbone system. Twice a day milking of these cows, working with the stockman in the parlour, handling the cows, taking them to and from pasture, detecting mastitis, feeding the cows in the parlour was the main jobs. Also, keeping the parlour and equipment to the highest standards of cleanliness during and after both milkings, removing any mastitis infected milk to prevent it contaminating the bulk tank were also the duties. Skills gained The ability to regularly handle cattle in a quiet and calm manner, shedding cows off for vet inspections or fertility operations, the ability to milk cows to a quick, safe and high standard were the main skills gained from this work placement. ---------------------------------------------------------Summer and weekends 2010 - 2012: Help out at Oatridge Farm with everyday duties such as feeding, bedding, handling, foot bathing sheep, feet trimming, vaccinating, tagging, checking all outdoor stock, clipping cattle for winter storing, filling grain drier. Also, operating farm machinery; JCB forklift, John Deere, New Holland tractors, Land Rover, quad and other farm machinery (baler, grass harrow, plough, rollers) Skills gained Confidence in my ability to operate machinery and livestock. ----------------------------------------------------Sept 2010 - June 2011- T.K.Maxx, Livingston Sales Assistant The work included all general store duties such as; assisting customers, dealing with difficult situations, solving difficult problems in a polite and professional manner. Stocking shelves, meeting deadlines and also working at the front desk and cashier were included on a daily basis. Also, working at a customer service desk, and dealing with customers face to face, and by telephone solving any issues was a daily requirement. Skills Gained - Communication skills, how to deal with difficult customers, staying

polite and professional at all times.

March - April 2010 - Oatridge College, Broxburn. Lambing On call 24/7, 500 sheep to care for and assist lambing, record keeping, administering medication, hand rearing orphan lambs. Teaching vet students to lamb and inject ewes and lambs, as well as tag, mark and castrate lambs. Operating farm machinery (tractors and quad bike) assisting the stockman calve cows, electronic tagging calve, turning cows and calves out to pasture. Skills gained - Working independently, working with others as part of a team, learnt how to solve problems on the spot, communicated with the farm manager when unsure.

-------------------------------------------Summer 2008 Bonnytoun Farm, Linlithgow General Farm Worker (Mixed farm) Assisting with the sowing and harvesting of fruit and veg for the farms shop, hoeing, rogueing, preparing the farm shop on a weekly basis, butchering carcasses (pig/sheep) on a weekly basis for the farm shop, feeding pigs and routinely checking outdoor stock with a member of staff.

----------------------------------------------2008 -2009 - West Broadlaw Farm, Broxburn Stable hand (Voluntary work) Training young/novice horses, running the day to day duties on the yard of 10-15 horses and ponies single handed. The job also included working as a team to prepare horses for competition. Skills gained - Listening skills, following instructions, taking charge and running a busy establishment, without assistance.
