Validation Workshop on the Gender Assessment of Philippine Land Administration and Management (LAM) and the National GAD

I.

Rationale

The final outputs of the project, Strengthening Capacities for Gender Responsive Land Administration and Management, Land Tenure Improvement and Tax Administration are (i) gender assessment of Philippine land administration and management (LAM); and (ii) proposed national Gender and Development (GAD) strategy for LAM. The overall purpose of these two outputs is to promote, secure and protect equality of land rights of women and men in the country. Before finalization of these two outputs, the Project Team would like to present them to LAM agencies, selected local government units (LGUs) and civil society organizations (CSOs) for feedback and validation. II. Objectives

After a one-day workshop, the GAD in LAM Project Team should have: 1. elicited the comments and recommendations of LAM agencies, selected LGUs and CSOs on the gender assessment of LAM and proposed national GAD strategy for LAM; sought an explicit support of the LAM agencies, selected LGUs and CSOs for the proposed strategy; presented to the ADB a proposal for the continuing advocacy to promote, secure and protect the equality of land rights of women and men for the creation of a program that will assist in facilitating the adoption and implementation of the proposed national GAD strategy for LAM.
