The Sutdy of Wen Xuan in Qing Dynasty and in the 20th Century

Abstract : The traditional study of Wenxuan in the Qing Dynasty not only made great achievements in documental arrangement and research but also
contained the seeds of modern study of Wenxuan , namely , the appearances of the concept of wholeness and some specific subjects of modern study of
Wenxuan. Among them are Wang Shihan s whole study of Wenxuan , Ruan Yuan s study of the Preface to Wenxuan , Zhu Yizun s study of the
process of the emergence of Wenxuan , the study of the interrelationship between Wenxuan and Wen Xin Diao Long by Sun Mei in the Qing Dynasty ,
and the study of Li Shan s notes in Zhang Yun ao s Xuan Xue Jiao Yan and Qian Taiji s Pu Shu Za Ji. The birth of the modern study of Wenxuan
is in fact a logical result of the interaction of the new discovery of Chinese classics and the penetration of Western learning into the East.
