Bush declared war against Taliban (mostly in Afghanistan) and al Qaeda (mostly in Iraq) who was in charge of the attack and war officially began on October 7 2001 and in January 2002 Taliban crushed. After the terrorist attack of 9/11 the Taliban described bin laden as their guest and refused to give him to United States and to custody. United states started the invasion of Afghanistan to overthrew the Taliban from the capital Kabul and from major parts of Afghanistan and a U.S approved government installed. The majority of Al-Qaeda members including Osama bin laden were not captured and some were still active in 2009. Bush was criticized for sending insufficient troops to Afghanistan initially and thus failing to accomplish all of the missions objectives. Bush effort was successful in freezing al Qaeda funds and many of terrorist training camps. United States captured many Al Qaeda leaders and members in the months and years following the invasion. The armed forces of the United States and several other countries invaded Iraq in 2003. In United States the operation was known as operation Iraqi freedom. Although the American government with encouragement from the British prime minister tony Blair had attempted to gain a U.S security council resolution authorizing the use of force to take down saddam from power, the attempt was unsuccessful to gain international approval for the invasion. On march 20, 2003 American missiles and bombs pounded saddams defences. Two armoured columns roared across Kuwait border into Iraq passing burnout Iraqi tanks from the first gulf war. British forces also moved along the coast toward the oil port of Basra. The first night American forces advanced halfway to Baghdad. On April 4 the U.S forces captured Baghdad international airport. Saddam disappeared and his government fall. By the mid April pentagon declared that the major part of war has come to an end. However, Iraq was in chaos. There werent many U.S forces to preserve order. Many Islamic radicals were outraged by U.S invasion and started to ambush occupation forces. They supplied trucks with explosives and blew them into police stations and other acts such as destroying pipe lines or power generators.

During bush presidency the nation was in struggle with The war against terrorism which wasnt completely over. In my opinion bushes diplomacy was not the best act for United States. His action put nation into economic difficulties due to war expenses. Also turned many Middle East countries against united states.
