To finalize a topic for implementation of a system for CIDP.

Discussion, Decisions, Assignments

Hi everyone, we have finally finalize the topic for our CIDP. The title of this project is called
“SchoolBUDDY”. The main target audience for this system will be for secondary schools.

The preliminary requirements for this project will be such that students from secondary schools will
be able to do Add/Drop for their online courses using the SchoolBUDDY system. The teachers from
various secondary school can also managed student assessments, set quizzes and tests, generate
results, upload course materials as well as announcement to students etc...

With this central portal in place, the individual secondary schools principal can managed the school
information and as well as generates reports. The Ministry of Education (MOE) can also issue
global announcement as well as important news alerts (e.g. SARS, H1N1 and etc...) to different
school principals to take apporiate measures through the portal as a channel for communication.

Each student and staff will have an account with login credentials as their email and password
specified by themselves and they also have the flexibility to create their own user profile page with
customized features and also a friends list as much similar to a social networking site. They will
also have the privilege of having their own personal workspace for storing their homework, project
work etc...

The Graphical User Interface (GUI) will be simple and ease of use for the benefit of those NON-IT
savvy students. Additional features will include chat functions with webcam, enabled video
streaming etc...

Administrative rights of different levels will be allocated to different MOE staff and principals of
different secondary schools. One of the value-added feature in SchoolBUDDY is the Online
Consultation Session where students will be able to seek consultation from the tutor in a real time
chat environment on a specified allocated individual time-slots.
