Replacing the Components of the BBU3900

About This Chapter

The faulty BBU3900 components must be replaced promptly. The components that can be replaced are the BBU case, boards, modules, and optical module. All boards are hot-swappable. When boards are running, abnormal power-off of boards will not cause damage to the hardware and software. 4.1 Replacing the Case of the BBU3900 The case of the BBU3900 consists of the outer case and the Universal BBU Subrack Backplane Type C (2U) (BSBC). The BSBC is the backplane of the BBU3900, which provides power supply, clock, and the data of the control panel and service panel for each board. 4.2 Replacing the BMPT The BWA Main Processing&Transmission Unit (BMPT) is the main processing and transmission board of the BBU3900. The BMPT implements centralized management over the boards of the system. 4.3 Replacing the BBBI The BWA BaseBand Processing and Radio Interface Unit (BBBI) is the baseband processing and radio interface board of the BBU3900, which processes baseband signals and provides RF interfaces. There are two types of BBBI board: 8 HP and 4 HP. The procedures for replacing the two types of BBBIs are the same. The following procedure for replacing the 4 HP BBBI is given as an example. 4.4 Replacing the UPEU The Universal Power and Environment Interface Unit (UPEU) is the power and environment monitoring module of the BBU3900. The UPEU supports the -48 V DC power input and provides power to the boards in the BBU. 4.5 Replacing the UEIU The Universal Environment Interface Unit (UEIU) is the environment interface unit of the BBU3900. The UEIU reports alarms and information of the environment monitoring equipment to the BMPT. 4.6 Replacing the FAN The FAN module of the BBU is used to cool the BBU3900.
