Stoc# mar#ets rise and they crash, you may have a !ob today and yet be unemployed tomorrow. It stands to reason that the more independent you can be, the better off you are and the better quality of life you will have overall.

SOLAR ENERGY "his is considered a better alternative to wind mainly because of its availability especially in the cities. "he cost of solar energy production is Rs. ./.01 paisa per unit. 2ut this is not a high amount when the other factors li#e area required, maintenance etc are considered. 3ach house has a battery room to store the solar energy produced from the roofs. Separate solar panels are provided on each lamp post separately for the colony lighting.

2iogas plants can also be suggested to utili4e the colony wastes effectively, but due to the possible environmental pollution that can be caused, we disregarded this idea and have gone for a central 56 station.

A'-anta%es In nearby future it would become difficult for the govt. to maintain every sector for power, fuel, water etc. 6overnment also loo#s into such pro!ects where electricity is generated using non renewable resources. So such pro!ects are encouraged by the govt. by providing subcedes. 8s we are providing fuel through gas lines ,the fuel consumption is chec#ed. 3ach house is aware of the amount of fuel, energy and water they are consuming. Disa'-anta%es "he installation cost for the solar power plant is quite high. "he cost and time ta#en to complete the pro!ect would be really high. It is difficult to find a site of considerable area around the city to supplement the other facilities that are not provided within the colony. 8 separate personnel has to be provided for the timely inspection and repair of the gas lines so as to prevent any ha4ards.

CONCLUSION
"hough the initial cost is high, when we consider the long run, it is quite economical. 5lanning and designing of such a colony is easy , but the implementation is difficult.
