SECTION 16511 INTERIOR LIGHTING PART 1 - GENERAL

Read and conform to all electrical sections of these specifications,the general instructions for electrical division, section 16010, apply to and form part of all electrical sections. These shall be read in conjunction with design drawings. 1.01 RELATED DOCUMENTS

A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions apply to this Section. Requirements of all relevant sections of Division 16 apply to this section. B. ID & Electrical lighting layout drawings. 1.02 SUMMARY

A. Installation, coordination, testing and commissioning of various light fixtures as described in the schedule of light fixtures and as shown on the electrical lighting layout drawings and related typical installation drawing including all fixings , accessories, ceiling roses/socket outlets, heat resistant flexible cables for final connections and terminations. B. Coordinate with other Divisions to ensure the correct location and installation of the plaster frames and rings. C. This Section includes lighting fixtures, lamps, ballasts, emergency lighting units, and accessories. D. Provide 5% spare lamps for all of fixtures (minimum 2 Nos. for each type). E. CODES AND STANDARDS CIBSE BS 7671 BS 7430 BS 6141 Lighting Guides Requirements for electrical installation. Earthing system Insulated cables and flexible cords for use in high temperature zones.

1.03

SUBMITTALS

A. General: Submit the following in accordance with Conditions of Contract and Division 1 Specification Sections. B. Product data describing fixtures, lamps, ballasts, and emergency lighting units. Arrange product data for fixtures in order of fixture designation. Include data on features and accessories and the following information: 1. Outline drawings of fixtures indicating dimensions and principal features. 1.04 QUALITY ASSURANCE Design, manufacture, testing and method of installation of all apparatus and materials furnished under requirement of these specification shall conform to latest publications or standard rules of the following: a) DEWA regulations for electrical installation works b) Regulations for Electrical equipment of building IEE, BS London c) British Standards. A. The Quality Control/Quality Assurance duties shall be performed by the Contractor. The system of quality control verification shall be in accordance with ISO 9000 standards of quality assurance.

B. Manufacturers Qualifications: Firms experienced in manufacturing fixtures that are similar to those indicated for this Project and that have a record of successful in-service performance.

C. Lamps Manufacturers : 1. General Electric 2. Osram 3. Philips

Lamps of one type to be supplied from one manufacturer and from the same production run.

PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.01 FIXTURES:

A. Lighting fixtures schedule shall be as shown on Luminaire schedule( Back Of House Only).Refer separate specifications issued by ID designer for Front of House. B. All luminaires shall carry ENEC certification or approved equivalent certification as appropriate. C. All luminaries shall be fully compliant with relevant codes, related reports and codes of practices prevalent in the industry. D. Luminaires shall generally be IP 20 if located indoor within the buildings and IP 65 (Weather proof) when located in external out door location, however if instructed otherwise to suit any specific requirement it shall be binding on the contractor to comply accordingly. E. All external luminaire must be suitable to operate at 50C ambient and must be anti- corrosive. F. Pertaining to specific requirements on flame propogation & flammability of transluscent covers, contractor shall be liable to provide material test certificates adhering to BS 2782. G. SCHEDULES: 1. BALLASTS

Ballasts shall be approved by internationally accredited laboratories . Ballasts shall have sound rating A unless indicated otherwise. All ballasts shall be High frequency, High power factor type. All ballasts part of the luminaries controlled through intelligent lighting control system and interfaced with BMS shall be digital addressable type. E. Ballast voltage shall be as required by circuit connection shown on drawings. F. The manufacturer of the fluorescent ballasts shall provide a full 5-year manufacturers warranty. FLUORESCENT BALLASTS Ballasts for tubular fluorescent fixtures shall be suitable for their specific use suiting to type of luminaire and its lighting control methodology as per design intent as shown on the drawing including ID lay outs. .1 These shall be of Digital addressable type, Electronic type or low loss no noise, high power factor and high frequency type to Engineers approval unless instructed or shown otherwise. Total harmonic distortion shall not exceed 15%. Lamp current crest factor shall not exceed 1.6. Ballast shall comply with all relevant European standards: BS EN 60920, 60921 BS EN 60924, 60925 for d.c supplied electronic ballasts. BS EN60928, 60929 for fluorescent lamp to BS 1853 Part 1 (EN 60081) BS 6982 (EN 60901) Supply thermal protectors where necessary for lamps to BS 60730-2-3 H.I.D. All lamps shall be supplied from an approved manufacturer. .1 .2 .3 .4 .5 Refer to Luminaire Schedule for lamp requirement. Install lamps only after luminaires have been cleaned. Ensure that all lamps are suitable for luminaires before energization. Ensure that lamps are of the type specified, and report any discrepancies to the Engineer. Provide 5% spare lamps for each and every type used. These lamps are to be handed over to the Engineer on completion of contract.

STARTERS Starters shall be Deos type or equal. To be selected in conjunction with respective lamp & Ballast. BS EN 60926 & BS EN 60927 compliant for Discharge lamps. CAPACITORS Appropriate capacitors complying with BS EN 61048 & 61049, in high pressure mercury, Low pressure sodium vapour and tubular fluorescents lamping circuits.

2.06

CONTROL GEAR Control gears shall be in accordance with specifications & the approved manufacturers recommendation as may be the case for integral or remote gear. In case of remote gear it should generally be housed in appropriately IP rated, lockable sheet steel housing distanced with in the manufacture recommended limits from the lamp.

PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.01 A. B. INSTALLATION Submit method statement for installation and testing of lights based on final selection of lighting luminaries. Submit complete details of lighting controls and required interfaces.

C. Setting and Securing: Set units plumb, square, and level with ceiling and walls, and secure according to manufacturer's printed instructions and approved shop drawings. D. Install support clips for recessed fixtures, securely fastened to ceiling grid members, at or near each fixture corners. E. Provide plug in ceiling roses for all lights mounted in a suspended ceiling. Location of plug in ceiling rose shall be above ceiling such that it is accessible from the opening of the ceiling. Roses that are too high or concealed by ducts etc. will not be accepted. F. Support for Suspended Fixtures: Brace pendants and rods that are 4-feet long or longer to limit swinging. Support stem mounted single-unit suspended fluorescent fixtures with twin-stem hangers. For continuous rows, use tubing or stem for wiring at one point and tubing or rod for suspension for each unit length of chassis, including one at each end. G. Lamping: Lamp units according to manufacturer's instructions. 3.02 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL Replace damaged fixtures and
