Barclays Bank approached the design team to manage the
design of their new sales centre roll out in the UAE. The design
required the delicate space planning of both retail service and
premium service areas as well as back of house operations.
Utilising the well establish Barclays brand the Ethos11 design
team created a unique open planned yet private retail environ-
ment for Barclays featuring custom design furniture and high
end luxury coffee bar and lounge for clients.

Bab Al Shams Desert Resort
Bab Al Shams Desert Resort Dubai, UAE

Bab Al Shams staff accommodation project involved the design
of a 600+ person accommodation project located adjacent to
the Bab Al Shams Desert Resort. Hotel management requested
the design of an accommodation facility that allowed for
families and recreation, stressing the need to create the feeling
of community. The complex utilises negative spaces between
objects to create usable outdoor areas that enter into public
spaces featuring landscaping and recreational facilities such as
a pool, basketball court and BBQ area.
The project required social connection to be created within a
precast concrete construction framework. This resulted in the
development of two buildings forming a private courtyard space
with the exterior designed as an extension to the existing hotel
architectural language and contextual references.

DA Desk
Hamriyah Free Trade Zone. Ajman UAE

DA Desk is a shipping services company located in the Hamri-
yah Free Trade Zone. DA Desk engaged the design team to
convert two standard free zone warehouses into a corporate
office environment. This project involved the redesign of main
access and pedestrian corridors to suit business workflow. Both
full height spaces and mezzanine floors were utilized to
increase internal space amenity and increase flexibility and
functionality. Custom workstations were designed tailored to
the specific employee tasks and as a final productivity incentive
additional indoor and outdoor recreational spaces were added
for staff to relax during demanding twenty four hour operations.

Capital Towers Number 1 Sheikh Zayed Road Dubai, UAE

Meraas Investments is a master developer rebuilding a large
historical area of Dubai. The design team was engaged by Al
Tayer Stocks (main contractor) to provide interior design
services for Meraas corporate offices located in Capital Towers
on Sheikh Zayed Road. The result of this design is a brand
developing and reinforcing contemporary interior with Islamic
influences creating a high end technology rich environment
suitable for a master developer.

Gulftainer
Sharjah, UAE

Gulftainer is a multinational port operator and logistics
company based in Sharjah, UAE. Due to increasing demand
Gulftainer is aggressively expanding operations in the UAE and
abroad. The design team were engaged to provide master
planning and architectural services to provide a design for a
700,000 square meter logistics facility located near the Sharjah
international airport. This project involved the staged master
planning of the development and schematic architectural
design of six buildings:
Gulftainer head office G+4 commercial building
Lease office space G+3 commercial building
Logistics centre 25,000m2 warehouse
Gatehouse
Mosque
Staff accommodation facility
The result is a design which takes into consideration commer-
cial needs of the client as well as the environment and socio-
cultural needs of the future community. The design utilises a
large green space corridor and commercial business precinct
to create a balanced mixed use development. Staff accommo-
dation facilities were designed to create functional inhabitable
spaces connected via bikeways to shops and religious centres.
Traffic flow was designed to segregate heavy and light vehicle
traffic to increase general amenity. Each building was design
with a similar architectural language to allow Gulftainers brand

Gates Fleximak
Jebel Ali Free Trade Zone - Dubai, UAE

Gates Fleximak is a leading supplier of belts, hose, hydraulics
and relates services. The design team were engaged to design
a new corporate office and warehouse facility in order to meet
space requirements for expanding UAE operations. The facility
also required provision of retail space and a training facility. The
design team approached the project with a goal of creating a
warehouse complex with a retail look and feel. The final design
creates a landmark branded facility that integrated LEED
requirements and meets the clients functional requirements.

Jumeriah Golf Estates Sienna Lakes - Dubai, UAE

JRHP Architects engaged the design team to develop sixteen
Tuscan themed villa concept designs for the Sienna Lakes
precinct within Jumeriah Golf Estates. Each luxury villa was
designed to have five to seven ensuite bedrooms, indoor
outdoor living spaces and a swimming pool.

Pearl Azure Hotel Management
Crowne Plaza, Sheikh Zayed Rd, Dubai, UAE

Crowne Plaza Hotel requested a concept design proposal for a
health spa and gym facility for the roof of a new carpark devel-
opment located on the gulf side of the current hotel tower. The
design team saw an opportunity to create a more holistic devel-
opment featuring recreational and restaurant destinations. The
result of the concept development is a contemporary roof top
destination featuring a health spa, gym, swimming pool, reflec-
tion pool, caf and restaurant facility. A promenade connects all
destination points which look out over the pool and reflection
pool to the Persian Gulf. Full height reception spaces allow
guests to enjoy a luxurious experience sunsets overlooking the
water combined with 5 star service.

Dubai Golf

Located on Emirates Golf Sheikh Maktoums former Royal
Majilis was recently handed back to Emirates Golf Course
management for redevelopment into a VIP venue.
The design team took this opportunity to recreate and expand
the existing structure. Using Islamic patterning the internal and
external areas were increased to accommodate the facilities
required to create a multifunctional restaurant, bar and event
facility. Comprising a gourmet kitchen and luxurious indoor
outdoor zones the Majilis will be redeveloped into a premier VIP
destination. Designed to be used by corporate guest entertain-
ing clients or high net wealth individuals looking for an intimate
and unique dining experience the Royal Majilis is set to
become a new landmark destination for Dubai.

JRHP Architects, Dubai World
Port Rashid - Dubai, UAE

Dubai World required a new commercial office and retail facility
to service the Port Rashid Dry Dock operations. The design
team utilised regional references to influence elements of the
design - small openings exposed to direct sunlight to minimise
heat gain and larger windows screened with sun shading
devices similar to a traditional Arabic courtyard dwelling.
Furthermore the large roof structure represents the function of
the dry dock itself, the large structures representing the dry
dock with work being undertaken in the shade underneath. The
sporadic deliberate use of colour segments the building allow-
ing deconstruction of the faade and facilitation of way finding
for clients.

Waterjet Corporation
Australia and UAE

The AquaTrainer is a unique equine training and rehabilitation
pool that allows horse trainers to increase general fitness
without impact or injury as well as shorten injury rehabilitation
time.

The design team assisted Waterjet corporation with design and
visualisation of the AquaTrainer. During the design phase each
component of the AquaTrainer system was analysed and
assessment for ease of manufacture, installation and operation.
This structured design and design review process allowed the
identification of numerous design simplifications, safety and
aesthetic improvements. The current version of the AquaTrainer
now costs less to manufacture is simpler to install and is safer
for both the horse and the trainer to use and operate.

Sykes pumps Australia, operating in the UAE as Primax
required a new warehouse and fabrication facility to meet
increased regional demand. Modecos design management
