A STUDY ON EMPLOYEE JOB SATISFACTION IN PUBLIC & PRIVATE BANKING SECTOR IN MADURAI CITY INTRODUCTION Job satisfaction describes

how content an individual us with her job. The happier people are within their job, the more satisfied they are said to be. Job satisfaction is not the same as motivation or aptitude, although it is clearly linked. Job design aims to enhance job satisfaction and performance, methods include job rotation, job

enlargement, job enrichment and job re engineering. Other influences on satisfaction include the management style and culture, employee involvement, empowerment and autonomous work position. Job satisfaction is a very important attitude which is frequently measured by organizations. Job satisfaction is the favorableness or unfavorableness with which Employees view their work Keith Davis. A major part of mans life in spent in work which is a social reality and social expectation to which man seem to confirm. Even then only economic motive has never satisfied men. It is always of greater interest to know why men work and at which level and how he/she satisfied with the job. Employee job satisfaction is thought to be one of the primary requirements of a well un organization and considered an imperative by all corporate managements. It is unredeemable fact that the future of business enterprise upon the satisfaction level of its work force. Need for the Study When an employee joins in the bank, various factors in and the around bank, it affects the mind of the employee either in positive or negative way. Due to change in mind setting the employee may either changes himself/herself to be active or inactive.

It is very much essential to study the impact / contribution of various factor of job satisfaction to the employees of the banks to retain its human resource and also to increase their levels of job satisfaction. Scope of the Study Satisfaction survey will provide information on how employees feel about their job and their organization. Therefore an enquiry will be made to look in to various facts of job and to measure the extent of satisfaction of employees with these various facts. Employees satisfaction is a multifaceted phenomenon. Many components of the work environment facts influence the level of Employees satisfaction. Objectives of the Study 1. To study the profile of employees working in banking industry. 2. To identifying the factors that influencing job satisfaction among back employees. 3. To compare the levels of job satisfaction of the employees of public and private sector banks. 4. To suggest some measures to improving the satisfaction level of the employees.
