Personal Description

My name is xxxxx I am a 22 years old female and a student of Horticulture Study at Bogor Agriculture University (IPB). I live with my family in Serpong city, which located 60 km from central of Jakarta. I am the first born of two children in the family. My sister is still studying in class 11 at high school. Both of my parents are lecturer in two different private universities in Jakarta. My parents come from two different tribes ethnics backgroundxxx.

I started to like ornamental plant when I was studying in junior high school. On the weekend I usually went to plant seller near my house to buy new flowers to plant in the afternoon. I plant them my self and with the help of family members. I also do the watering and fertilizing myself. Because I was so interested for ornamental plant, in class 8 of junior high school I have decided to learn floriculture at Bogor Agriculture University (IPB) for my college study. When I graduated from high school, I enroll at IPB and IPB accept me as their student. Because IPB is located in different city to where I live, I have to stay in Bogor. I rent a room near campus. I visit my family one or two times a month. Living alone in a new environment made me more independent. I used to estimates my own needs and manage my living expenses. The best part of living in a new environment is giving me the chance to meet new friends and involve in activities I have not experienced before like doing hiking, joining trainings, seminars and organization. I experienced joining terrarium training and hydroponics training held by Agronomy Student Association. I use my spare time for reading books, try on new recipe, internet browsing, visit local tourism places or just hanging around out with friends. Some classes I took in my study are vegetative propagation, tissue culture and floriculture. In vegetative propagation class I learn about plant propagation techniques like cuttings. In tissue culture class I learn steps of tissue culture from sterilizing explants to acclimatization, for examples heliconia, orchid, sunflower

and cucumber. In floriculture class I learn flower and ornamental plant culture (dendrobium, gardenia, poinsettia, foliage plants, chrysanthemum, rose etc), visits to nurseries and ornamental plants exhibitions. I am actively involved in a number of student organisations. I was a committee member in Plant Festival in Bogor, a member of International Agriculture Student Association, and xxxx.

For my final assignment I hadve the chance to do a research in Pusat Penelitian XXXX with the project tittle xxxx.in XXXX. Besides doing research, CNF also gave me the chance to work part-timely in campuss nursery , XXX Nursery, for 4 hours per week. I usually do acclimatization, repotting, watering, seed cleaning or weed cleaning (cerita apa saja yang kamu lakukan di sini).

I am very interested in joining the internship with The Ohio Program. I hope if I were accepted in the program I will be able to improve my English skill, improve my knowledge and ability in floriculture practice to help improving floriculture sector in my country. I am also very happy to meet new friends from different countries and background. I sincerely hope that I can be accepted to join Ohio Internship Program in 2010.
