Technical specifications of 6F Multi ModeArmoured Optical Fibre Cable 1.0 Optical fibre cables referred in this specification are suitable for direct burial installation. These cables offer high network reliability and craft productivity during installation and splicing. The cables are designed to protect the fibers from environmental hazards and cable handling during installation. These cables have high flexibility and low weight. The cables will have identification marking at regular intervals of 1 meter. Marking will be of permanent nature. The accuracy of the sequential marking will be with in +0.5%, -0%.

Specifications of Optical characteristics: These cables are made with high quality optical fibers suitable for operation at 850 nm and 1300 nm. The fibers conform to international standards ITU G 651. The fibers have excellent geometrical properties to yield low splice loss. The fibers have dual Acrylate coating and color of the coating will not change over period of time. The fibers used in these cables conform to the following specifications: Parameter

Cable Construction: This cable is manufactured using Finest raw materials, with due inspection at everystage to ensure 100% compliance to all specifications.

4.1

Fibre Identification: All the fibers in the tube are color coded as per the following order for identification purpose with UV curable inks: Blue, Orange, Green, Brown, Slate and Natural.

4.2

Fibre Packaging: All the fibers are protectedinside one central jelly filled tube. The fibers are bundled in a group of 6 fibers. Packaging of all fibers in one central tube allows flexibility in interconnecting various fibers and facilitates fast and safe splicing process. The central tube design also facilitates mid span entry into the cable, without any chance of damaging any fibers, as it will affect the live traffic on the fibers.

4.3

Strength Members: Cables have two Spring Steel Wires as strength members, to provide sufficient tensile strength. The Strength members are located inside the sheath such that the tensile load is transferred to strength members when the cable is pulled.

4.4

Cable Core: The cable core is made Water-proof by using Water blocking filling compound.

4.5

Cable Sheath: The cable core is protected with ECCS (Electro Chromed Corrugared Steel) Armour, followed by a jacket of U. V. resistant H.D.P.E. Over the Armour, Water blocking powder is applied to make the cable Water tight.

Mechanical & Environmental test requirements: The cables are to be subjected to the mechanical and environmental tests as per the procedures and test conditions, listed in the table below. Acceptance criteria: 1. After each mechanical test described in specifications table, the change in attenuation shall be 0.2 dB for each individual fiber. For temperature cycling test, the attenuation change through out the cycle, at every stage shall be 0.2 dB for each individual fiber, with reference to the reading at room temperature.
