CHAPTER II This chapter primarily aimed to present, interpret and analyse the data gathered together with the

implications of the study. This study aimed to determine the health care practices of student leaders in the University of Northern Philippines in relation to their academic performance during the school year 2012-2013. A questionnaire/checklist was used as the main tool for data gathering.

Socio Demographic profile of the Respondents Table 2 presents the profile of the respondents in terms of their socio demographic profile like age, sex, parents highest educational attainment, parents occupation, monthly family income, and ordinal position in the family.

On Age. It can be seen from the table chart that the majorities (53 or 38.4%) of the student leaders are 19 to 20 years old followed by those who age 17 to 18 years old (46 or 33.3%). There were only 18 (13.0%) respondents who are 16 and below. On Sex. As gleaned from the table, the majority (83 or 60.1 %) of the respondents are male. On the other hand there are only 55 (39.9%) female respondents. On mothers educational attainment. The table reveals that most (84 or 60.9%) of the mothers of the respondents are college graduates. There are 22 (15.9%) who are high school graduates and the least (1 or 0.7%) who finished vocational. On fathers educational attainment. Most (71 or 51.4%) of the fathers respondents finished college and 9 (6.5%) did not have formal schooling. On mothers occupation. It can be seen from the table that majority (41 or 29.7%) of the mothers of the respondents are professional, and 41 (29.7%) are housekeepers or have no jobs. There were 13 (9.4) who are engage in skilled work like carpentry, technician, farming and others.

On fathers occupation. Most (47 or 34.1) of the occupation of the fathers of the respondents are engaged in skilled job like carpentry, technician, farming, and others. There were also 19 (13.8%) of them who dot have jobs and the least 8 (5.8) are unskilled like vendors. on monthly family income. As shown in the table that most (46 or 33,3%) of the respondents have a monthly income of 15,000 and above, there are 34 (24.6%) who have a respondents have a monthly family income of 5,000-10,000 and 14 (10.1%) have a monthly family income of 3,000 and below. On ordinal position. The table indicates that most of the respondents (48 or 34.8%) are the youngest and 39 (28.3%) are the middle child. There are 36 (26.1%) are first born. Only 15 (10.9%) are seventh or eighth child.

On course. It can be gleaned from the table that the majority (13 or 9.4%) of the respondents are from Bachelor of Science in Education. There are only 4 (2.9%) who are taking up masters degree. On year. The table reveals that 40(29.0%) of the respondents are in the fourth year or senior year. Only 3(2.2%) are on their 5th year. On Number of Units enrolled. The table indicates that majority (90 or 65.2%) of the respondents have enrolled 22-27 units. There are 26(18.8%) of the respondents have 16-21 units enrolled and only 3(2.2%) are on their 5th year. On position in the organization. It can be seen from the table that 14(10.1%) of the respondents held a position as governor, auditor and secretary. There are 13(9.4%) of respondents who has a position as vice governor and PRO. Only 1(1.4%) of the respondents belong to the position as president, executive secretary, association representative and vis.com representative.
