2014 Judicial Candidate Questionnaire:

(Note: Judicial candidates are asked to ONLY answer the Judicial Candidate questionnaire, and NOT the County or State Level questionnaire!)

1. Why are you seeking the endorsement from Stonewall Democrats of Dallas? If I am fortunate enough to become the judge of Dallas County Justice of the Peace, Precinct 5, Place 1,1 want the people I serve to know I have the support of the Stonewall Democrats of Dallas and the
broader Dallas LGBT community. I want the LGBT family being evicted for questionable reasons to have

a hearing where all of their rights and the laws are explained and enforced. I want the transgender juror

to feel respected and at home as she serves her civic duty. And someday soon, I hope to officiate
weddings, lots and lots of weddings, for every loving couple who wants to spend the rest of their lives
together. With the Stonewall Democrats of Dallas endorsement, I will be more able to earn the trust and respect of those I serve.

I have seen Stonewall Democrats of Dallas consistently and visibly support and champion good
candidates since I started volunteering with the Dallas County Democratic Party in 2005. Stonewall not
only works with candidates to help them succeed, but Stonewall members are involved, educated, and vote. I want to earn the Stonewall endorsement so that, together, we can reach more voters and

achieve the fairness, equality, and respect that every person is entitled to from their Justice of the

Peace. Together, we can guarantee the best service for the people of Dallas County if I am the next JP 51.

2. What are your plans to participate in a coordinated campaign in the general election? Although my race for Dallas County Justice of the Peace 5-1 will be decided in the primary process this cycle, I have participated in every coordinated campaign since the 2006 cycle and I look forward to being part of the 2104 team again with the Stonewall Democrats of Dallas. The realities of a race with 5 candidates and a likely run off scenario mean that I cannot predict what funds will be available to contribute to the coordinated campaign. However, I do guarantee that I will participate, whether it means wearing out my shoes to get out the vote, continuing to providing free legal services on voter
protection issues, or stepping up to do anything the team needs.
