Notes:
Before you start the upgrade, read the prerequisites for the upgrade in Section I. The required resources for an upgrade are summarized in Section II.
To upgrade the drive firmware, carry out the steps described in Sections III and IV. If you are using an AOP30, then it may be necessary to replace this with a new one (Section V).

The following individual functions are involved: Function Component name Component Order No. [MLFB] Function is available from the version release of the chassis / basic unit M M M1
Edge modulation (optimized pulse pattern) Parallel connection Safety Integrated function "Safe Torque Off" (previously "Safe standstill") and Safe Stop 1
Chassis po- 6SL3320.../6SL3310... wer unit (CIB) Chassis po- 6SL3320.../6SL3310... wer unit (CIB) Chassis po- 6SL3320.../6SL3310... wer unit (CIB)
When installing a replacement CIB, the possible function scope can be identified by the last position of the Order No. (MLFB). If the last position is equal or greater than 3, then the above listed functions are available.
CIB modules that have the full functional scope are identified by the so-called "ears" the three screws that hold the shielding plate.
Note:
Safety Integrated functions can be used only if the HW components used for this purpose have already been approved for Safety Integrated functionality. The hardware components approved for Safety Integrated are available on request from your local Siemens office.

Fig. 2: Overview of the firmware versions in STARTER Here, an overview of the firmware versions of all components is listed in table form (the internal version numbers are displayed). Also refer to the note on P. 4.
d.) Converting the drive unit in STARTER into the new firmware version
Switch to offline operating mode. Converting the drive unit into firmware version V2.5.x.x: Using the righthand mouse key, click on the name of the drive unit e.g. "Sinamics S120", the top-most entry of the drive in the Project Navigator) and select the entry "Target device Device version". A dialog box then opens in which you can change the device version from 2.1 - 2.4 to 2.5.

IV.
This firmware is provided on a Compact Flash card (CF, type 1). The card is inserted in the slot at the front of the CU 320. Note: All of the converter power supplies must be switched-out before withdrawing the Compact Flash card! Only switch-in again after the new card has been inserted!
1. Switch-out all of the converter power supplies (main and auxiliary power supply). 2. Remove the Compact Flash card (CF card) located in the converter and keep it in a safe, protected place. 3. Replacing 4. Insert the new CF card (observe the direction arrow!) and then switch-in the converter power supply. The LEDs on the control module start to light up. 5. The individual components then start to automatically boot (new feature of Version V2.5). This is identified when the LEDs on the components (TM31, CIB) flash green-red and the RDY-LED of the CU slowly flashes orange. It can take some time (up to 15 minutes per power unit) to load the new firmware into the components. (The components are automatically upgraded individually one after the other.) 6. After the upgrade, the RDY-LED of the CU flashes quickly with an orange light. Only switch-in the voltage again after this and then re-boot. 7. Connect the converter to STARTER and load the backed-up project into the target device ("
