New Moon: Edward’s POV- After

the break-up.

I loved Bella too much, but leaving her was the right thing. It
hurt too much leaving her in the middle of the bleak forest, but that
was the cost I had to pay for her being safe. I was a monster.

“Edward, please talk!” Alice said in her high, annoying voice.

“I shouldn’t have left her...” I kept murmuring over and over to
myself.
“Edward, you’re the one who even decided to leave her.” She
reminded me.
“Just please, leave me alone. I feel like a monster enough
without this ‘pep talk’ you’re giving me.”
“Jeez!” Then she left the room.
I wonder how Bella feels. She’s the one who made me want to
live like this for this long. I have to get away. Far. Far enough that I
could forget about Bella, or at least try to.
“Everyone, I need to say something.” I said in a dead tone.
I heard a lot of murmurs and thoughts about me actually saying
something, because ever since…I broke up with her, I barely said a
word to anyone.
“Edward, please let me remind you, we’re all here for you,
especially me.” Esme said.
“Thank you Esme. Anyway, I have decided to leave you all. I’m
sorry about the inconvenience, but I need to get my mind straight
on things.”
“Are you sure?” Esme said.
“Yes, I am positive.”
“If it’s what you want.”
“I don’t want anything right now…unless it’s Isabella Marie
Swan.” I looked down.
Esme took a step back, and then nodded.

The following day, I jumped out of the window taking nothing

with me. I just wandered off out of Washington and into Canada
and didn’t care where I went. Then I caught a scent of humans.
They smelled delectable, and I haven’t hunted in a long while. The
scent almost reminded me of Bella. I held my breath not thinking
about her any longer.

6 months have passed

While I was hunting nearby deer, I caught scent of another

vampire.
Victoria.
I tried tracking her down to South America, and succeeded, but
then I lost the scent. Damn.
So I decided to continue hunting. All of a sudden, I heard my
phone ring. Something I haven’t heard in a while.
“Hello?”
“EDWARD!” Rosalie said frantically.
“What?!”
“Bella!”
“What about her?!?!”
“She…I don’t know how to tell you this Edward…”
“WHAT HAPPENED TO BELLA?!?!?!”
“She’s…she’s…dead” Rosalie whispered.
I dropped the phone from being so shocked.
“Edward? Edward? Are you okay? EDWARD?!”
I picked up the phone, still not taking in the truth. “I’m here.
Rose, are you telling the truth?”
“Yes!”
“Are you sure she’s…dead?” My voice broke on the last word.
“Yes! Alice saw the vision!”
“What happened? How did she…well you know.”
“She jumped off of a cliff…in LaPush.”
“Oh, well thank you for the news Rosalie.”
“You’re…welcome…?”
She hung up.
I couldn’t believe Bella was dead. I promised her if she ever
died, I would follow as quickly as possible. I have to do the only
thing to die…provoke the Volturi.

The next day I was coming up with plans to get the Volturi
extremely angry at me.
I came up with ideas like feeding on humans right in front of
tourists, but if I did that, the humans would just think I am a crazy
psychotic teenager that needs professional help, and the Volturi
will be grateful.
And then I came up with the smartest idea yet: walking into the
sun. Perfect.
Then I realized that next week was St. Marcus day. There is
usually a large festival there in Volterra. I could get the largest
possible audience right at Palazzo di Priori.

* * *

“Aro, I have a surprise for you.” I told Aro.

“What is it my dear Edward?”
“Tomorrow is St. Marcus day…right?”
“Yes, why do you ask?”
“I was wondering, if I was doing a specific thing, where would
I get the biggest audience?”
“Of course the Palazzo di Priori!” bingo. “But as asking before,
why do you ask?”
“Well, I want to die.” Simple enough?
“Why dear Edward?”
“It’s complicated.” He put his hand on mine. I thought about the
reason for suicide.
“Ah. I see, but I cannot believe that you wouldn’t consider
staying with us. You have a gift that is grand!”
“No thank you, but thank you for the offer.” I smiled.
I will walk under at 12 pm. When the sun is exactly overhead.

As I was unbuttoning my shirt, I saw a child with very pale

blond hair with prosthetic vampire fangs. Ridiculous.
The clock started chiming for the twelfth hour. “Here we go.” I
muttered to myself.
On the tenth chime, I caught a girl in sight. She looked so much
like Bella, it was unbelievable. Maybe I was hallucinating. Then
she said my name. Could it really be Bella? No. It couldn’t. Bella
was dead.
“Edward!!!” She said again.
Am I in hell? I don’t even remember walking into the sun.
“Edward! Look at me!” The hallucination Bella said. I just
ignored her.
The hallucination was hurtling herself at me. I felt her pounce
on me.
“Amazing.” I said. And it was truly amazing. Hell is better than
I thought it would be.

The End!
