ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT


Only a very few of Institutions in the State offer undergraduate and postgraduate education in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, and ours is in the forefront of these institutions. The BE programme in Metallurgical Engineering was started in 1968. However, a separate Department was formed for this purpose in the year 1974. The department also offers M.E Industrial Metallurgy (full time and part time) and also Ph.D in Metallurgical Engineering. National Board of accreditation of AICTE has accredited B.E and M.E programmes.

ABOUT THE COURSE


The course focuses primarily on the issues related with welding of certain advanced materials for high end applications. This course is designed for faculty of mechanical sciences and for welding engineers to address the weldability issues of high critical materials. Lectures in the course are delivered by experts from various leading research & academic institutes and reputed industries. Since welding is the main manufacturing method for structures pertaining to power production industries, aerospace and defence sectors, this course is intended for faculty to upgrade their knowledge in the fields of welding and its metallurgy.
