PRODUCT AND BATTERY SAFETY The Gauntlet product contains small parts such as screws and grommets be sure to keep them away from small children to avoid ingesting them. There are no user serviceable parts inside the Gauntlet product other than the attachment of the internal HDD or SDD drive. The battery, drive cable, and PCA board are not user-replaceable. Attempting replacement may void the product warranty. The Gauntlet product contains a lithium-ion battery that must be handled and disposed of or recycled properly.

LED STATUS LIGHTS Charging LED No light: Red: Green: Wi-Fi LED Blue: Flashing Blue: Drive Activity LED No light: Drive is in sleep mode / not installed / not active. SSD Drive is active. Pink: When 10% battery power left (at this point it is recommended to charge your device via the included power adapter). Note: This LED will also turn pink if hard reset has been performed using the reset button. White/ Flashing White: When the drive is powered on and the Hard Drive or Wi-Fi is ON. Wirelessly transferring data. When not charging. Charging via using power adapter. Device is fully charged.

Warning - Do not power off the unit while the White LED is flashing to avoid losing data. CHECK THE BATTERY CHARGE STATUS To check the status of the battery charge at any time, press the BATT. CHECK button on the side of the unit. The LEDs will light up to show the approximate charge remaining from 0% to 100%, in 25% increments. For use in the UK and Europe: Install the proper EUR or UK AC power plug clip, both included in the unit box contents, to the end of the power adapter cable for your location. The clip simply snaps onto the existing plug. The AC adapter automatically provides the proper voltage required. For use in USA or Canada, no action is necessary. The unit is ready to use out of the box.

CONNECT TO YOUR COMPUTER OR MOBILE DEVICE Ensure that the Gauntlet unit battery has been charged or the AC adapter is plugged in. To Connect to Computer (PC, Mac, notebook): 1) Power ON the Gauntlet unit. 2) Wi-Fi Connection: Connect with the computer Wi-Fi to the SSID: Gauntlet Node or 2) USB Connection: Connect the included USB cable to the computers USB port. A USB 3.0 port will provide the fastest file transfer speed. To Connect to Smartphone, Tablet, or Kindle Fire: 1) Power ON the device and the Gauntlet unit. 2) Download and install the Gauntlet Connect app from iTunes, Google Play or Kindle store respectively. 3) Turn ON the phone or tablet Wi-Fi. 4) Connect through Wi-Fi to the SSID: Gauntlet Node 5) Launch the Gauntlet Connect app to access, play, and transfer files.

TO UPLOAD AND DOWNLOAD FILES You can copy, move, delete, upload, and download your files, documents and media between the Gauntlet Drive and other devices such as a PC, Mac, notebook, netbook, most smartphones, most tablets, and the Kindle Fire. For PC, Mac, Notebook, Netbook: If the Gauntlet Drive is connected to your Mac, PC, notebook or netbook you can move and copy files within Windows Explorer in Windows computers or Finder in Apple computers as you would with any other drive. Note: If connected by Wi-Fi, the Gauntlet Drive will appear in the Network as a network drive on Windows computers and as an available network drive in the Finder on Apple computers. For Smartphone, Tablet, Kindle Fire: If the Gauntlet Drive is connected to a smartphone, tablet, or Kindle Fire, follow the steps below to move, copy, and delete files between devices using the Gauntlet Connect app. 1) Using iPhone / iPad / iPod Touch devices (these devices do not allow music files to be uploaded or downloaded) A. Uploading photo/video files to Gauntlet Drive Select the upload tab > press + > select desired file(s) > Press Upload button.

iPhone/iPod Files that have been Uploaded to the Gauntlet Drive are located in the Wi-Fi Drive tab on your device. (only DRM free movies and photos are uploadable). B. Downloading photo/video files to iphone or ipad Select the Download tab > press + > select desired file(s) > Press Download button.

Files that have been downloaded to your iOS based phone or tablet are located in the Photo Gallery folder on your phone or tablet. (only DRM free movies and pictures are downloadable). 2) Using Android Phone / Tablet / Kindle Fire A. To upload and download files Select the Control tab > select the desired file > Press Download button > choose which folder to download the file to > press Select button.

MANAGE FILES AND FOLDERS; CREATE PLAYLISTS To add, delete, move, or copy files and folders, press Edit button and select the action you desire. Press Paste button to complete copy and move. Gauntlet Connect app Icon Descriptions: These icons appear in the app home screen: Wi-Fi Drive: Select this tab to view the files and folders that are stored in the Gauntlet drive. Select this tab to view the files and folders that are stored in your phone, tablet, or Kindle Fire device. Select this tab to upload files from your phone ot tablet to Gauntlet Drive. Select this tab to download files from your Gauntlet drive to your phone or tablet. Change the settings for the Gauntlet Drive and Gauntlet Connect App using this tab. Select for file management such as creating / deleting files and folders. The edit button can be used to add pictures or Music files to the playlist feature. : Launches the playlist feature in order to play back multiple songs or photos added to the play list.

PLAYING MUSIC, VIEWING MOVIES OR PICTURES 1) Select the song / movie / or picture by tapping the file name in Wi-Fi Drive or Local Files tabs. The file will automatically start to play. 2) Press these buttons to control file playback.

3) Open in Function: this menu will only appear when opening a file format not supported by your phone or tablet device such as an unsupported music, movie, picture or document file. The Open In menu will enable you to select a 3rd party App other than Gauntlet Connect to open the unsupported files. Some apps/programs may download the entire video file before it can be played. This can take time depending on video length. Notes: 3rd party apps are not included with this product Maximum file size supported for streaming using the Open in feature is 350MB by iOS5 or below.

About Button: Click on this button to display the Gauntlet Connect App version number. UPLOAD PHOTO QUALITY Tap this box to change the photo upload quality from your tablet or phone to the Gauntlet Unit. Select the quality level preferred, and the photo will be uploaded with a higher or lower resolution than the original photo file. Default level is no change to the original photo quality resolution. For Android platforms, photos are uploaded at full quality.

SLIDESHOW Slideshow Time: Tap this box to set the transition time between photos as they are displayed. You can choose between 3 to 30 second intervals. Slideshow Type: Tap this box to change the visual effect mode for each photo as it transitions in the slideshow. iOS: You can choose between None (default), Cube, Flip, Vacuum or Ripple effect. Android: You can choose between Fade, Slide Down, Slide Up, Slide Left, Slide Right.

iPhone/iPod Disk Allocation: Tap this window to display the Gauntlet Drive storage information -- total drive storage, available unused storage, and the percentage of total storage used. Note: The drive name cannot be changed. Also, if a partition is created on the Gauntlet Drive, its name cannot be changed from the default system name.

System: Tap this box to view or change the Host name and Workgroup name used in Windows computer networks. The default host name is set to: GauntletNode and the default Workgroup is set to: WORKGROUP. This is used if you wish to connect the Gauntlet drive to your home computer network. This is not required to transfer files which can be done by simply plugging in the included USB 3.0/2.0 cable. Firmware Upgrade Button: Tap the Select Firmware button to update to the latest firmware available for Gauntlet Unit. First, go to the Support page for the Gauntlet product model at www.patriotmemory.com, and download the latest firmware version onto the Gauntlet Drive in any location. You can tap the status box to see the current firmware revision to compare to the website Support page file download to determine if a newer version is available. After placing the downloaded file onto the Gauntlet Drive, tap this button, tap the drive folder that appears and locate the firmware file downloaded. Upgrade the unit firmware by simply tapping the file to open it. The file will perform the upgrade automatically. Do not turn off the unit or press other buttons while the file is running as this can interfere with the upgrade. The process should take no more than 1 minute to complete. It is recommended to exit the app and then re-enter to ensure that it captures any new features or changes from the new firmware installed.

Network: Tap on this box to view or change the wireless SSID or the Samba (SMB) account settings. Wireless SSID: The SSID is the name you choose to identify the Gauntlet drive unit to select when connecting to smartphone, tablet, wireless computers, and other supported wireless devices. The default SSID is GauntletNode. When connecting wirelessly to another device (phone, tablet, or computer), that device Wi-Fi must be connected to this SSID. Samba account: Samba, or SMB, allows file sharing between computers running Windows OS and the Gauntlet unit when connecting wirelessly. The setting for the username and password can be changed here in the app, or from your Windows computer by opening a browser window as explained below. The default setting for the Gauntlet unit Account is: Username is set to admin, and the Password is set to admin. Note: You can always connect directly to any computer with the included USB cable and easily transfer and access your files.

TO ACCESS YOUR DATA WIRELESSLY ON A WINDOWS SYSTEM: Connect your Windows computer Wi-Fi to the Gauntlet drive SSID. Next on the Windows computer, click on the Start Menu button > in the search window type in \\10.10.10.254 and press enter on the keyboard. It will prompt you to enter the Samba Username and Password. The default Username and Password are set to admin. Press enter. Once the username and password has been entered, you are able to browse the content stored on your Gauntlet unit in Explorer like any other storage drive on your computer. Note: You only need to perform this login once, unless you make changes to the username or password, or reinstall the computers operating system software. Note: To change the Samba username and password from your Windows computer, open a browser window and type in \\10.10.10.254 for the URL. The same settings described in this section will appear to make the settings changes to the Gauntlet drive without using the Gauntlet Connect app. TO ACCESS YOUR DATA WIRELESSLY ON A MAC OSX SYSTEM: Click on the Finder icon in the Dock > click on GauntletNode in the left pane under Shared section > click on the Connect As button on the top right side of the window to enter your Username and Password. The default Username and Password are admin. Once the username and password is been entered you should be able to browse the content stored on your Gauntlet unit. Security: Tap this box to change the wireless security settings on the Gauntlet unit. You can choose between Disable, WEPAUTO, WPA-PSK and WPA2-PSK settings. By default the security mode is set to Disable. It is recommended to protect unauthorized connection and access that you enable a security level. Note: In some locations with multiple wireless signals in the area, or when using cable for home network internet access, selecting WEPAUTO can cause connections to be unreliable resulting in error messages. Setting a specific security type will resolve the issue in most cases.

iPhone/iPod Wi-Fi: Tap this box to connect your Gauntlet unit to your home or work wireless internet. This will enable you to have access to the Internet and the Gauntlet unit at the same time. It is called Internet Pass-Thru. Any devices connecting wirelessly to the Gauntlet Drive will also all be able to access the internet thru the Gauntlet drive once connected to your home or public wireless network. To connect to your home or work wireless connection: make sure the Gauntlet Drive Wi-Fi is set to ON position > once the desired wireless SSID (name) appears on the screen, click on the SSID and enter the wireless password (if applicable). The Gauntlet unit will reboot to finish the configuration. Once the Gauntlet unit has rebooted exit the app > make sure your phone or tablet is wirelessly connect to Gauntlet unit, and launch the Gauntlet Connect app.

CHANGING THE APP LANGUAGE The app supports many languages. It will automatically display the same language as the smartphone or tablet it is used on. If your tablet is set to Italian, then the app will display in Italian also and so forth. There is no setting required.

PARTITION THE DRIVE The Gauntlet drive may be partitioned like any other storage drive using your computers operating system or 3rd party software application. The partitions will show up as separate drives with separate folders in the app or in your computers file listing. Note: The name of the drive and any partition created cannot be changed. USING A MAC ADDRESS The MAC address is located on the label on the bottom of the unit. Some units may only have the number of the original product carton. RESTORE DEFAULT SETTINGS In order to reset the unit or to restore default settings, you must reset the Gauntlet drive. Reset the unit by pushing a pin or end of a paper clip in the reset hole on the side of the unit. It is not marked to avoid accidental reset. Note: Resetting the unit will NOT delete, change, or affect your files stored on the drive in any manner.

TROUBLESHOOTING YOUR DEVICE Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs): Q: Can the device be connected via USB and Wi-Fi at the same time? A: No, this device can be accessed via USB or Wireless but not both at the same time. This is a failsafe feature built in to the device to prevent from overheating or power fluctuations. Q: How can I connect Gauntlet Drive to my home or work Wireless internet to have access to the file on my drive and internet at the same time? A1: When using a phone or tablet go to Settings > Wi-Fi > choose your home or work wireless internet SSID and enter the password (if necessary). A2: When using a Mac or PC, make sure you are wirelessly connected to Gauntlet Drive > open your internet browser > in the address bar type in 10.10.10.254 (which is Gauntlet Drives default IP address) > click on Setup tab > click on Network connection > choose the desired SSID and enter password(if necessary). Q: How to set a password on the Gauntlet Drive? A: To set a password go to Settings > Security > choose security level and type in desired password. Q: How to change the SSID name on Gauntlet Drive: A: To change the SSID name go to Settings > Network > and change the SSID by typing in the desired SSID. Q: Where can I find the Gauntlet Connect App? A: Gauntlet Connect App is available to download on App Store (for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch), Play Store (for Android Phones and tablets), and Kindle Store (for Amazon Kindle Fire).
