THOUGHTS FROM BRAD

Erwin McManus asks an important question in his book, The Unstoppable Force. He writes: Are we too much about us getting fed and too little about us exercising our faith. Thats a great question. Which do you focus more on? This year as we seek to be Unleashed for the Unreached, we have numerous opportunities for you to exercise your faith. Below is a listing of dates we want you to keep in mind as you plan out your calendars during the first six months of the year. January 24-Clear View Mirror in concert at FACC @ 7:15 P.M. This outreach event is focused with your unchurched friends in mind. They will play both Christian & secular music that your friends may or may not know. Bring your ear plugs. Seriously! February 22-Elevate from Kentucky Christian University will be here in concert. This outreach event will be a great night to introduce your unchurched friends to Christian life as we enjoy praise music. More details to come later. We need some of our families to host (lodge) group members in their homes. February 23-Elevate will be here on Sunday morning to lead our morning worship. We will have one service at 10:00 a.m. We hope some of your friends can join us who came to the Saturday night concert. March We will offer a Sunday morning adult elective to teach you how to share your faith entitled: Just Walk Across the Room. April 5-Random Act of Kindness event in Lancaster to help meet people from our community. May 3- Random Act of Kindness event in Lancaster to help meet people from our community. June 29-July 3-Mission trip to Grundy Mountain Mission School for teens and adults. Its going to be a great year. If we are ever to break out from complacency and apathy, it begins with you. You can impact others to catch the fire you have for the Lord. Will you help make a difference in the life of someone this year? Will you disciple someone? Will you commit to leading one person to Christ in 2014? You are Christs plan to reach the masses. There is no Plan B. Have a great week, Brad

BITS FROM BRO. DAVE

PERSONAL NOTE: Sue and I want to say thanks to all you dear friends who remembered us at Christmas with cards and gifts. (A special note of appreciation to my Harmony Class.) We remain grateful for your prayers and ask that you continue. Our daughter, Stephanie, is improving and we are seeing prayers answered. SUNDAY EVENINGS IN THE SANCTUARY: This week (1/5) I am returning to the Sunday evening program. We are launching a new series of studies on the Old Testament prophets. The series is titled, Meet The Prophets. This week we will do an introduction to the whole series, Meet The Prophets (Numbers 11:29, 1 Corinthians 12:28-31). Next week (1/12) the title is When God Came Back: Samuel (I Samuel 3:19-21). In coming weeks, we will examine the lives and prophetic ministries of other men like Elijah, Micaiah, Amos and others. Why not plan to be a part of this adventure each Sunday evening at 6:00 pm? MIDWEEK BIBLE STUDIES: Due to uncertainty of our schedule we will not be resuming the Wednesday study groups for some while. Watch for later announcements. FUTURE EVENT: Mark your calendars for Senior Saints In The Smokies which will be May 26-30, 2014. If you have questions, contact me. FINAL THOUGHT: The person who says they will meet you halfway usually thinks they are standing on the dividing line.

Core Values...
Values central to the life, mission and vision of Fifth Avenue Church of Christ are: Christ-Centered Worship
We make it a priority every Sunday to celebrate Jesus through our music. (Romans 11:36-12:1-2). We focus on Jesus through gracebased preaching and teaching & understand the Bible is our authority (2 Timothy 3:16).

Church Health and Biblical Balance

Church health becomes reality when God's people seek harmony & live consistently. We expect every member to protect the unity of Christ's Church. (Romans 12:16; 1 Peter 3:8)

Global Evangelism
We are constant to our founding call to worldwide evangelism, proclaiming to all that Jesus Christ is the Savior, Healer, and SoonComing King (Acts 20:27).

Fellowship and Ministry

After people begin their journey with Jesus, we will equip them to find a ministry based upon their strengths. We want everyone to serve in some capacity. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27) We also want His church to be the living evidence of His love and power to the world.

Discipleship
We do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth Avenue Church of Christ in Lancaster. We are all about teaching you that Jesus seeks a daily relationship with Him through a life of obedience. In other words, we want to see the things you are taught actually change your lifestyle & your daily decisions.

How Can I Respond Today?

At FACC we look to the Bible for guidance on all issues. We believe that Gods Word is clear concerning what a person must do to become a Christian. Trust that Jesus can bring you to salvation. Turn (repent) from the sin in your life. Confess your desire to make Jesus the Lord of your life. Be baptized (immersed) in water for the forgiveness of sins and to receive the Holy Spirit into your life. To make this life decision for Christ, we ask that you come forward during our commitment song at the conclusion of the Sunday message. Baptized believers are welcome to become members at FACC by coming forward on Sunday morning or by seeing our Senior Minister to discuss this further. We ask that you complete a series of Curious classes to help you better understand what you are committing to as a member.

Social Conscience
We place high value on the sanctity of human life, of Biblical marriage and morality, and we welcome ethnic diversity (Isaiah 56:7; Philippians 2:15-16).
